SLC Gets 787 on KL

Mon Oct 17, 2016 3:03 pm

It appears KL has the 789 scheduled for SLC when their seasonal flights to AMS resume on March 26, 2017.

A few points:

    First scheduled 787 for SLC
Increase of 51 seats vs. current 332
Resuming in March instead of May
Immediate 3x weekly instead of waiting until July to go from 2x to 3x weekly
DL also upgauges AMS from 763 to 332 in May 2017
Fairly substantial capacity to AMS next year

Good news for SLC.

We'll see if that sticks. The 332 fleet is currently stretched a bit too thin based on current S17 schedules, and I think something has to give. Current planned routes:

SEA-AMS 1x Daily
SEA-HKG 1x Daily
SLC-AMS 1x Daily
DTW-GRU 3x Weekly
DTW-AMS 3x Daily
DTW-FRA 1x Daily
DTW-NGO 5x Weekly
DTW-PEK 1x Daily
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

If it does stick, a DTW-AMS frequency will likely switch to another aircraft. Easy swap.

What is DL using on SEA-NRT then? That was often an A330-200, at least awhile ago.

Someone posted that SLC drops to 15/week flights to Europe in Winter. I thought AMS, CDG, and LHR are daily. That adds up to 21.

As of now SEA-NRT is showing as 767-300ER. We'll see if that changes, although with the shrinking NRT hub and the availability of nonstops to ICN, PEK, PVG, and HKG from SEA, no more capacity may be necessary.

SLC-LHR is summer seasonal.

Delta pushed that up to year round too , it just runs like 5 times a week. They just lay off on the low days of the week and back to daily in summer.

CDG/AMS/LHR are all 5x/weekly during Winter season.
