A300 nose gear collapse; runway excursion in Recife

Fri Oct 21, 2016 1:38 pm

Not good day for Sterna Linhas Aereas and their single cargo A300.

Suffered nose gear collapse and departure from runway during landing in Recife on flight from Sao Paulo.

It looks like Engine #1 ate a fair bit of dirt as well. Spendy. Aircraft is CN 236, a 1986-build originally for Pan Am.

In fact it's a 1983-built white tail leased to Pan Am a couple years later. Might have been ordered by Lybian Arab or Laker.

Twitter and other sites are down due to a hack affecting DNS servers, or something...

It is in the news at the moment.
