Turkish Government to get another VIP jet. The ex Tunisian Gov.'s 340-500. This will be in addition to the 2 x A319s and 1 x 332 and a bunch of smaller bizjets. I wonder why they don't use one of the sitting Long Haul jets already in TK inventory ?

According to media news, the reason for it is "not enough seats" in the A330.

Probably because their J fares have been priced pretty low for the past few months?

Turkish insist in their Twitter account that flights to Caracas are starting on December 12, 2016. However, neither Caracas nor La Habana appear on their route map and of course the flights are not on sale anywhere yet.

My questions are:

1) Less than a month to go, they must already have everything planned: Slots, Plane, Crews, etc. So why are they not selling the flights yet? What can be stopping them or, if we put it the other way, what are they waiting for?

2) Do you guys think that less than a month is enough time to sell an acceptable amount of seats on a new international flight? I guess a massive sale will be offered to attract business ASAP.

3) Do you guys think that -given the current and ongoing "rightsizing" process THY are going through- it is now a good time to start this route, particularly to a country with few economic/cultural ties with Turkey and where the situation is what it is?

4) I'm aware that most THY flights are about connections, but what specific cities are they targeting? Madrid, Rome and Lisbon, the main european destinations for venezuelans involve significant backtracking via IST.

And finally, how many of you actually think that the flight will start on that date? Will start at all?

TK is starting multiple new routes this winter. Like any business not all your products work, some get dropped and new ones are started.
Just because some routes got pruned is not reason to look at new opportunities.

Like current BOG/PTY/GRU/EZE services the flights will connect well to the Levent, Israel, broader Mideast, Russia, CIS, Balkans etc.

Havana will primarily be good for Turkish point of sale tourism supplemented by connections, while Caracas will be driven by Venezuela point of sale. TK playing these cards, it could be one of the primary airlines in market share when things return to normal in there.

Good timings. Similar to PTY/BOG flights.

I'm in Panama this week, and the flight yesterday for example was pretty full with almost 210 people. Flight had 40 or so Copa connections. Quite good. Was also nice to see the pajama livery TC-JNC parked in between all the smaller Copa 737s.

Read that TK Chairman lker Aycı is on trip to Pakistan and that TK Seat Industries is competing for the sale of economy class seats to PIA. Order value would be between USD $15-20mil.
Also Ayci spoke with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about cooperating with PIA about establishment of a new LCC brand based in Pakistan.

Saudia launched daily flights from ESB on November 18. 4 days of the week the flights are between Ankara and Jeddah and 3 days between Ankara and Madina. ESB was a charter destination by Saudia for over 25 years and this is the first time it adds on to mainline network of the airline. The amount of Eastern (Middle East+CIS) destinations served directly from ESB compared to Europe is now at a historical high of 80% ME+CIS and 20% Europe, it was exactly the opposite if you compare with 20 years ago...what an irony !!!

Indeed surprising and i wonder the reasoning for the change.
I fly this route every few weeks and it is always close to 100% in business class.
Website shows as a 77B. Does anybody know which type this is specially for the business class layout.
Is it a own plane or leased one?

Exactly. To outsiders this looks like another dark regime spending left and right on expensive gadgets like vast palaces, fleets of armored vehicles of the most luxurious kind and multiple long haul widebodies - where are they even going to visit with this plane with the current foreign policy? - while USD and EUR are breaking records. And this is indirectly effecting TK's reputation - even if there is no direct link between the two.

Seems to be about a 20% savings in reality. BUT...I've been looking at fares between SFO and DEL for January. A week ago they were about $800 rt. Then 3 or 4 days ago they suddenly went up to $1000. Now, today, with the Black Friday sale, it is back down to $800. Coincidence? Or are they playing with the fares to make it look like you are saving 20%?

At any rate, $800 or even $1000 is a good price for that length of flight.

Greetings from IKA. This is my first time in Iran. I enjoyed it so far. Food is great and girls are beautiful with full of işveli. After Turkey, feels like a more secular society by the way.

The TK flight I was on, was almost full. It was a very late night flight. For earlier flights, TK asked for crazy price level (almost LAX or SFO price they demended). Service was good, flight was excelent but the temperature was at Hamam level as always.

Was just a little shocked reading this on other aviation website: http://www.aerotelegraph.com/turkish-le ... otte-still
That TK will ground good 10% of it's fleet and cut destinations. As planing to fly TK in December was wondering what Asian routes will be cut? Maybe somebody in Turkey has more info. BTW; there are as mentioned in a other post 3 A333 in ZRH, what will happen with those?

Thanks in advanced.

I did fly with a 739 back to ESB yesterday night. Upon landing, it was parked directly at TK Technic Hangars and we were transferred to terminal by bus. I suppose that TK Technic ESB Group is taking care of 737 maintenance including 739 series.

Cabot Aviation appointed by Turkish Airlines to remarket eight Airbus A330-200s:

Cabot Aviation, a division of Air Partner plc and a leading aircraft remarketing agent, has been exclusively authorised by Turkish Airlines to remarket eight Airbus A330-200s for sublease – either dry or wet.

All eight aircraft were built between 2007 and 2011 to a common specification with passenger seats in a 24J + 255Y configuration. The aircraft have PW4168A-1D engines and a 233-tonne maximum take-off weight (MTOW).

Turkish Aviation November 2016 - IAH

Tue Nov 29, 2016 7:30 pm

Interesting information. I have some friends who booked a return flight from CDG to IAH in July of 2017 using United Miles. United called them yesterday and informed them that the route was cancelled, and that they would be re-booked. I haven't seen any other information on this, and UA is still offering the route on their site, but interesting.

It is quite sad to see this, as I have flown TK out of IAH, and thought both their hard and soft business product was fantastic.

United must be confused. IAH flights still on the books, albeit westbound timings have changed by about an hour.

Suspect its merely a schedule change which maybe made the connection not valid. That's the danger of booking tickets so far out.

I more expect it will be operated with A333s. By that date, TK's those 5 flyable A332s will be heavily assigned in Latin America Routes and elsewhere and with the arrival of ex-Skymark A333s (7 frames), TK will have an adequate fleet of A333s at hand... But nothing has been officially announced by TK, as of now!

Indeed it is operated by an A333. Tickets are on sale and running a quick dummy search, TK's pricing is very agressive. It's the cheapest option from BRU.
