Just wondering if we have any news on way the next aircraft is to get the new 'Roo?

Since the 744's are staying until the 2020's now I'd imagine they'll also be getting an update?

Can't wait to see an A380 or Dash-8. Would anyone have renders of either?

Why all the way to VCV? I thought they used Singapore for repaints

You can barely tell the difference anyway, other than the font change from arial to comic sans

I don't think there is much of a difference at all, the Roo has been slightly changed and the font apart from that not much of a change at all.

I think half of the Quantas livery posts are simply an excuse for people to say 'Roo'. I admit, it is fun word and I like to say it. I like the new Roo.

I want to see the A380's massive tail with the updated Roo and the grey highlight....

We've had how many threads now about BA'a new livery that was literally a change in white and a crest.

Did they even finish getting the current aircraft in the newly-obsolete livery? I was comparing 737 tails the other day and I'm certain that one of them had the roo in the old style, it's legs not as prominent on the bulkhead.

I think there are a dozen or so mainline aircraft and quite a lot of Dash 8s still in the old-old livery.

I don't think they would fly their Dash's to VCV for repaint. Are their any repaint facilities in AUS?

Additionally the most recent photos of VH-VYG and -VYK are from January 2015 and June 2014 respectively, both in the older colours:


Note that in these photos -VYE, -VYG, -VYH, -VYI and -VYK have the 1984 style logo on the engine cowls, while -QPH, -QPI, -VXM, -VYD, -VYF, -VYJ and -VYL have the 2007 style logo there.

Finally, VH-QPG was repainted sometime between 20 April and 2 October, and VH-QPJ (which has debuted the 2016 livery) skipped the 2007 livery altogether:




So in summary it would appear the 1984 livery is still being worn by up to 10 737-800s (9 in a consecutive registration block VH-VYD to VH-VYL, delivered between May 2005 and January 2006, plus VH-VXM delivered in July 2002) and 2 A330-300s (VH-QPH and VH-QPI, delivered in October and November 2005, with the A330s delivered either side of them in July 2004 and December 2005 having recently been repainted).

I am getting used to the new livery a bit more now. Actually IMHO the new stand-alone roo icon with the silver/grey looks quite effective on the iPad app.

I am still lukewarm on the red tail icon and the livery font though!

What about the Retro Roos I & II, -XZP & -VXQ? Are they going to get the new livery, what was the timeline for the current retro livery on these?

I'd be interested to know why -VXM survived in the 1984 livery after many of its younger siblings (-VXN to -VXU, -VYA to -VYC) were repainted into the 2007 livery over the last few years. Surprise Retro-Roo?

Speaking of Retro-Roos, assuming the 10 in the 1984 livery don't all go before one returns in 2016 livery, this image will soon almost be possible entirely with 737-800s (well except for the V-Jet, unless they're planning to really go all out with the Retro-Roos - what do you say Qantas, can you make it happen?)

I must admit the new font for the Qantas name is fairly well done..but I maintain the new logo looks like some sort of boomerang, rather than the animal it is supposed to represent.

NZ have painting for regional aircraft in either CHC and/or NSN

The fact that so many aircraft are still in the old livery is a sure sign that the airline is rebranding too often. I doubt all the Dash 8s will get the new colours.

Well, if Australians say "roo" instead of "kangeroo", why cant Qantas simplify its logo the same way? It perfectly fits;-)

Anyway, the change is so minor, it shouldnt be a problem, not an organizational one and not a financial one, to have the whole fleet in the "new" livery by 2018. Just add the silver wedge, paint the red part with the new roo and change the titles. If the current livery is to faded that the plane needs a complete repaint, its done anyway. So I cant see why that should take until 2020.

There is a paint facility in TSV, that's where Retro Roo 2 VHVXQ was resprayed.

Qantas have an aggressive timeline to have entire fleet in the new scheme by 2020!
