DL A330 Parked Between SEA Runways

Tue Nov 22, 2016 10:45 pm

Hi! I've been sitting at SeaTac for a couple hours and noticed that there's been a Delta A330 sitting between the runways for several hours (I've been here for 2 and it's been there since I got here). No lights, no movement, no vehicles near it. I have a picture but can't figure out how to upload it from my phone

Does anybody on here know why it's just sitting out there?

I think pilots fell sleep before take off. ATC gave it up. Just leave them alone. LOL! I have no idea! It's odd. Maybe they have no space parking remote in apron area available. It's back up A330 parked there. Taxiway is not as much using so plane can be park there. My guess.

While I cannot provide a specific answer I have seen this before and have observed DL park other aircraft on the Tango taxiway, sometimes three or four at once.

Maybe this has to do with the movement of aircraft in and out of their hangar which would take away their ability to park aircraft in front of it.

Does anyone at DL have a more concrete answer?

Likely related to not enough gate or hangar space. Doesn't make much sense to have an A330 sitting at the gate when a few narrowbodies could arrive/depart. Perhaps this is how DL will use the full potential of their temporarily limited gate space. Is it allowed/typical to use space between taxiways as a stand?

Or maybe it's a marketing scheme. ;)

I'm not nearly close enough to grab a tail number. Sorry. It was several hundred feet away, and at a bad angle from where I was sitting

Occasionally a couple of airlines park planes overnight on taxiway tango and alpha. Tonight will probably be one of them.
