Just pure curiosity.
I took the British airways flights from Austin to London last month and walked down probably the longest Jetbridge I have ever encountered around the world, this thing was insane, has anyone else walked it.
Just curious if it might be the longest in the world.

I have walked those before, and this was almost double the length of those.

It's just a temporary structure in place so that the terminal concourse can be extended without taking several gates out of service. IAH had a similar set-up in place on the east wing of the C-South concourse back when Terminal E was under construction and the walk on the "jet bridge" out to the furthest parking position was very long indeed. DEN also has some gates like that at the west end of Concourse A (A24/25) although they're not quite as extreme.

Technically it's not a jetway. The jetway is just the articulated bit from the "Node" to the aircraft door. The rest is just a stationary walkway, in fact much of it is actually on top of an existing structure.
Not a fun gate to be at if you're running for a tight connection! Lol

Does anyone know why T5-C was built like that from the start? As ScottB mentioned, the walkways are temporary until T5-C is extended but why wasn't it fully built-out from the start given it seems to be operating at capacity and has been from some time.

Gate A4A/B at MDW use to be a long walkway. Back in 2008/2009 they added a semicircle holding area though, so now it is a long walkway to a small seating area for two gates:

What concourse & gate was it? Because your video looks like the one in the link based on number of bends in in.

Heathrow seems to like long Concorde diameter walkways that go on forever, have no services or bathrooms but have jetways jutting off them.

If I had to guess it just comes down to money. Those tubes are a lot cheaper to build/heat/cool than the proper terminal building. And in the case of LHR, passenger holdrooms don't generate cash.

I'd like to nominate ATL E11, long walkway inside the building to get to the jetway. Longer than A13 at BOS.

There's two separate discussions here: 1) The longest moveable jetway, which I think would be very difficult to identify, 2) The longest walk from the gate to the plane, which technically doesn't have to include a jetway, but could include a combination of corridors/ramps/escalators/stairs/stationary jetway extensions like the AUS & LHR examples, which connect to a moveable jetway or even a walk on the apron without a jetway. These extra setups are frequently used to partition international arrivals, as well as during terminal construction, which means more walking distance for those departing.

I've used that one at LHR, pretty fun journey! Gives you some extra time to enjoy the excitement of boarding a flight.

The long walkway at T5 was due to Heathrow cutting back on costs and time to deliver the T5 project. The original plan had the terminal all the way to then end.

The city's description of the terminal expansion project anticipates completion in 2019.

Sorry to bring the months old thread, but I just realized that google map of AUS has been updated and the lengthy temporary bridges are shown. The longest bridge looks like 600 ft long, way longer than LHR's not-temporary longest bridge.

It is crazy how long the ones at AUS are in the image. I thought you were just exaggerating saying 600 ft but you might be right.

A tool I use for work in ArcMap measured it at 690 feet.
