AC832/AC833 Dec 2/Dec 3
Hello. Does anyone know why AC832 (763) on Dec. 2 flew YUL-FRA-BRU instead of YUL-BRU? And why today's (Dec. 3) AC833 is slated to fly BRU-YYT-YUL instead of BRU-YUL? Is it a crew/scheduling issue? I'm curious.
Next flights: YQM-YUL-YVR-YUL-YQM / YQM-YYZ-HKG-DXB-BCN-YUL-YQM

AC832 diverted to FRA due to fog.
AC833 had to stop in YYT due to crew duty issues. (Pilots)
They were likely already on the way to the airport before it was know 833 would be delayed hence their duty day had begun.
Crew change YYT.

I figured that must have been the issue. So AC would have deadheaded a whole crew to YYT just for YYT-YUL. Still cheaper than cancelling the flight altogether...

At time of AC's arrival into BRU, the weather was pretty crappy. Funny thing is, everyone else (except some regionals) landed without a problem. DAL42 and UAL972 were right behind AC and they landed.
Seems as though AC could only fly the CAT II approach, whereas everyone else was able CAT III.
Their minimums for landing on runway 25R were 350 meters (1200 ft) RVR A, and 175 m (600 ft) RVR B. They tried the approach first time, RVR were below their minimum, so they went around. Came back a bit later, tried a second time, RVR's were still below minimums, so they diverted to FRA.

AC 330s are CatIII capabale. Could have been an MEL on aircraft that downgraded it to CAT II. Also, how much fuel was it carrying? All variables that lead towards a diversion.

The flight was operated by a B763. Air Canada has downgauged a few flights and reduced frequency due to low demand ahead of the holidays.

763 is catIII as well. Same reasoning should apply.
The 330 swaps is mostly due to their cabin reconfiguration program. Thanks for the notice though.
