What two weavy lines do you mean? So far as I can see this is the standard colour scheme for Iran Air:

Perhaps you are thinking of Iran Aseman Airlines?

The press release from when the order was first announced had a modified livery with 2 wavy lines.

I actually liked the wavy lines...
Iran Air livery looks really bland without the grey belly (LH style)... kinda boring
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

They should reverse the tail design colours, the arch and logo should go white and the background should go blue, the blue could also come right down to the belly, Qantas style.

They were probably sure enough it would be firm. BTW American's orders were the A319s wasn't firmed untill the aircraft was delivered (via lessors)

Good to see they are getting new planes. Hopefully they have a good cabin. Do we know the A321 cabin?

That is quite a gamble for Airbus or ATR, I suspect that the lessor took the risk to paint these in Iranian colours of the Iranians did gave them some kind insurance that these aircraft will be payed for. Were do these early slots come from? Lessors? Or shifting around production slots?
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

The 5th ATR turboprop for Iran Air made a test flight yesterday.

Already 5 ATR turboprops produced, and they have yet to sign the deal.

Well that's fairly odd, be funny if they take home a few ATRs the day the deal is signed.

Maybe they have unannounced deals to avoid upset some parties who are against Iran?

They haven't been shy about announcing their Airbus orders and Boeing commitments, so I can't see that's an issue for an order for ATRs.

The article say "With the exception of one freighter, all 747s have already been grounded for some time, with the 747SPs being the last ones to retire in 2016.", but as I understand, their 747SP service is now resumed and is flying to Beijing and KUL?
