In a deal between SAS and Cityjet, the wetlease agreement is extended and SAS sells Cimber to Cityjet. Cityjet will order (probably through lessors?) 10 new CRJ-900s from BBD, and operate a total of 22 CRJ-900s on behalf of SAS. While Cimber's current CRJ-900s will be sold

But why?
I don't believe Cimbers jets are older than 8 years or so, and are all of the latest NG version.
On the other hand, it means a reduction in total numbers of CRJs by 1 or 2 (depending on if you count OY-KFC), so that is positive.

They are a "different" NG version and according to my source there are quite a few technical differences between Cimber's old and Cityjet's brand new CRJs, and it is desired to only have one single type and not two subfleets

Are these for SAS, To expand or to replace the SSJ100 orders due to some problem they apparently have with rust(not sure on that)

They are exclusively for SAS, to replace Cimbers current 11 CRJ-900s. Completely different pool of pilots too.
Don't know what you mean about the SSJ having problems with rust. It had some issues with a bolt of some sort suffering from fatigue, but that should have been solved by now. In any case, they just announced that they are going to operate a bunch on behalf of Brussels Airlines, so they certainly aren't going to replace them any time yet.
