Ryanair's Q3 profits are down 8% to €95 million.

Average fares are down 17% to €33 but traffic is up 16% to 29 million passengers.

Slightly below expectation but on track for FY profit of €1.3-1.35 billion. And with significant year-on-year increase in pax traffic - very impressive for a mature company with over 100m pax a year.

01-OCT-16 - 31-DEC-16 which is their Financial 3Q 2017. It seems that this is their weaker quarter. In terms of revenue.

Interesting that their OPEX remained relatively the same (EUR 1.026B 3Q17 vs. EUR 1.029B 3Q16). Depreciation and Amortization expense increased to EUR 122.8M (+17% YOY). It seems as they operated newer airplanes during 3Q17 than in 3Q16 (which is confirmed from their statement: "10 new B737-800s delivered"). On trailing basis, Revenues were EUR 1.313B. What is also quite important is their ability to generate cash from operations. On trailing basis it is EUR 1.751B! Overall good performance.

Their punctuality got little worse 88% vs. 90%. But note the following: We are looking at new initiatives to address this problem, including a review of our service policies such as the 2 free carry-on bags which are the cause of increasing boarding gate delays.

Will RYR follow soon with additional charges for use of the overhead space?

Although Ryanair may sometimes annoy us,the bottom line is they are a very well run airline.Others may collapse but Ryanair won't.
As for the '2 free bags' carry on. It was initially part of the reaction to EasyJet offering a better (nicer?) service. They reacted quickly and well to this threat.I have no doubt that carry on 'wheelie' bags will continue.Indeed their new 'max' jets will have even bigger overhead lockers for just this reason. But free? Nope that's gonna change for sure.If it's £30 for a bag in the hold then perhaps it will be £15 for a carry on wheelie.
Many People will pay as it saves a ton of time and hassle at both airports. If you are simply doing a day/1 night business/leisure trip you may 'go cheap' and fit the basics into a shoulder bag.The headline price for your fair will not of course change.

Better than most Indian airlines. Jet Airways reported 70% decline in net profit while IndiGo reported 25%. But, Indigo's traffic increased by 38℅.

Ryanair a well run airline.... uummmmm... rather a very well run scam. A very clever scam involving Airport Marketing Services which charges, on behalf of Ryanair, non existant tourism publicity to local chambers of commerce or equivalent. This is how Ryanair generates a fair proportion of their revenue (some argue this may be up to 700 Meuros!!) Tax payers money going directly into FR's pockets whether you fly Ryanair or not....
I could talk about the scam involving cabin crew training and the deplorable conditions of pilots, but I guess no one cares...

Interestingly, IndiGo has a fleet size of 126 A320s, while Ryanair has 366 B738s (almost 3 times) yet IndiGo's Q3 net profit is $72 million while Ryanair has about $100 million profit.. Ryanair's yield are very less..
Last year, IndiGo's average fare was about $60.

Provided that statements/claims are supported by facts/links to reports, and comparisons are similarly made to other LCCs, why not discuss them. We all might learn something from your contributions.
Facts are fragile things. Treat them with care. Sources are important. Alternative facts do not exist.

I am sure that you are could not be on a better platform to discuss these issues. :)

Do you have any way to back up your statements or is this based on your perception? This goes for your claim on tax benefits as well as on the shady conditions. I would love to read more on this topic.

Cheers,
Andrej
