Wow. Not a fan of this at all. Hopefully it takes them a long, long time to phase out the current livery. Never thought I'd see the day that I'd be bummed over the paint scheme of some flying metal, but here we are.

Just feels like a step back. That mint colour was identifiable from a distance and really stood out among a sea of bland white planes (I still don't quite understand what makes "eurowhite" different than "white" from any other geography. Is ET then afrowhite?). It was refreshing to the eyes and looked clean, pure, and inviting. The new livery is more stark and I suppose it's a bit more formal. Maybe this is the image AC are intending to project.

This refresh isn't ugly, it's just not especially nice either. Especially set against what AC had.

It could grow on me in time. The AA piano keys eventually grew on me, and now I quite like them--they really do stand out when looking down a terminal. Still, the blue was really something unique that I'll miss.

I must say, I really really like this!

It's quite funny how people moan at AC for essentially updating an old colour scheme, yet a lot of us would love to see BA unveil a jet in the Landor scheme once more!

In all honesty, it doesn't even reflect their branding, it's so drab and depressing, where as the branding is seemingly uplifting and positive. This is positively brutal. They couldn't possibly have come up with a worse design.

And that rondelle below the window line, not beside the titles, whoever came up with that idea should be forced to publicially apologize to ever Canadian.

Man, I remember back 12 years ago how so many posters here hated the toothpaste green, pronounced it hideous, blah, blah. Now, everyone thinks its so great. Forgive me if I don't pay much attention to livery changes, it's always the same love fest for the old and hate-fest for the new, regardless of the airline, regardless of the country.

It's...fine. Not as bad as on the A350, but still not a fan of the eyeliner. I'm just curious what made them switch from their previous black livery before? Will the reasons they switched then not creep up on them again? Also, they used to be one of the most recognized red liveries in the world (already not a heavily used color since the demise of TWA and NWA), I am surprised they don't want to capitalize on that more. But I suppose, even fewer airlines use black.

I like it, as others have said, a red cheat line above the black belly would have looked good, also maybe continue the black on the tail round the aft of the aircraft like the Rouge scheme.

Not as good as the "Goose livery" shown in the rumor thread, that was fantastic, but (I know I am in the minority here) I hate the current toothpaste livery, so just about anything is a step up.

If I were BBD, I'd be a little hurt that the new livery illustrated guide has illustrations of "The Air Canada Fleet" on pages 14-17, and includes the 737 MAX8, but omits the CS300. When is each model supposed to start arriving? Is the 737MAX expected well before the CSeries?

While I would have loved more red, it does seem to have a tendency to fade faster than other colours. Perhaps it's a conscious avoidance of something that would need more frequent upkeep.

Is this a joke? WTF does this have anything to do with Canada? They had a perfectly good livery. Why change??? I used to love the fact that I could be in a busy airport like LHR all the way in T5 and be able to recognize an AC tail taxing out of t2 across the airfield. This is just sooo bland. The bandit look is clever...thats about all I find acceptable...and the Maple Leaf on the belly.

Should have used the dark Green of the 1990's livery. Get rid of the logo under the windows and the font should be Red.

From the AC website: "...It took just a few days in a Peru, Indiana hangar for our team to apply the new Air Canada livery onto one of our Boeing 787-8 aircraft.". In other words...just like the design, it took no effort.

Yes, because black doesn't fade at all.

I like it. I like the toothpaste livery for its distinctiveness, but the demise of the digital leaf is quite welcome. I question the use of black, but hey - at least for now, it's different. The font needs to be red, though.

Personally, I love the raccoon-eye look. The rest of the livery is pretty meh. The logo is so tiny and dark, I wouldn't know this was Air Canada if it didn't say so. Needs more colour, more something to it.

I don't honestly know what to make of this...

The eyebrows thing looks retro, the tail smacks of a bad mishmash of the green tail color scheme and the redtail, the titles are out of the 70s, and why is the logo on the lower fuselage?

I need to see it in person, and im sure it wont be long, but right now Im very meh... I mean they havent even got the whole Jazz fleet in the minty green yet and they are changing it...

I love it. It's kind of retro in it's simpleness, but also fairly modern. The eyeshade thing around the cockpit windows makes the whole fleet look different than other airlines, and more similar across the different fleet types within the company.

Actually, I've heard it explained that because red absorbs blue light, and blue being the shortest wavelength (highest energy), red will fade faster than black, or colours closer to the blue/indigo end of the spectrum.

Another one of the world's unique liveries bites the dust.

Funny enough, it has similarities to Delta's. Yawn.

Whatever you do, don't put this on the 77W! I don't even want to think about how awful this will look! This makes AA seem stunning in comparison (which it is). Air Canada had one of the best liveries, and one of the few distinct non-Eurowhite ones (AA, CX, KL, EY). I don't know what the hell AC was thinking but it is hard to believe that it is somehow more awful than I envisioned. I want to give it a chance after it gets painted IRL, but looking at the pictures from the hangar, it looks atrocious. This would've been good as a retro one off, but going back to the old days fleetwide!?! I'm now going to have to fly to YYZ/YVR to do some spotting of the 777 and 787 before they paint it in this terrible paint scheme. I'm sure that some will love it, but as divisive as new paint schemes are, I've seen some really good and some bad ones over the last decade and this is by far the worst I've seen in a long time, even amongst all of the numerous liveries that have come and gone.

Shades of LH, just replace gray "underwater" section and the blue tail background with black. I think AC is trying to go more Euro. The dark belly is a traditional design and responsible for what others have called a retro feel. I don't think dark bellies are really retro, just traditional, as retro connotes something that went out of style and is restored for the purpose of reminding you of old days. Another comment on the dark belly: I believe its origin is from ships, and its placement on planes is to make planes appear more shiplike. Which makes it annoying of Delta to use a dark belly without a perfectly horizontal line.

I quite like it. It's great to see the roundel back, and I think the black underbelly gives the plane an almost retro feel. I definately like it more than the old "Crest Pro-Health" scheme.
