I agree! That's the first thing I thought when I saw the picture of the CRJ900. On the mainline aircraft however, the location of the rondelle really bugs me. I almost want to reach into the screen and move it up beside the titles where it 'belongs'.

The website has it in the 'classic' AC style, so I can't fathom why they completely changed the location on the fuselage. I am actually a fan of the scheme, but that one issue really irks me every time I see a picture :x (I wont be losing any sleep over it however).

Ha this could be a snapshot from ~2005 and few would notice the difference. At least the hard-water-stain green livery was really unique, even if I still have no clue what they were going for with the color and design of the tail. This new one looks just like the old one, but with a dark bottom like dozens of other carriers, and misplaced titles and maple leaf. Dreadful.

I like the new livery, especially the front looks really neat! The old livery, of course, is one of a kind but then again it looks kind of like toothpaste^^. They could've left the maple leaf in the old style though IMO.

Edited for spelling.

I'm not overly keen on the tail on the 787, it's obviously related to the shape of the 787s tail. I'm understanding why negative space tail logos are attractive to designers - there's more flexibility to keep the brand consistent but get the overall visual right.

Equally I feel like the roundell below the window line is unnecessary. The mask is unusual, I think it works on come aircraft better than others. The overall effect is quite busy, it's not as good as the original black AC livery - the additions feel like they have been added to justify a design fee.

Guys, as with American, until you see it up close in sunlight, perhaps reserve judgement. No one liked the older Air Canada livery when it was launched back in 2005, now replacing it has been described on these pages as a "crime against humanity". I was through YYZ last week and there were 6 A321s in the new colours, all looking sharp, fresh and instantly recognisable as Air Canada, unlike say, China Eastern.

Has Air Canada gone back in time to 1970s?

There is a lot more black but the font and color are the same.

I like it. I like how it makes the leaf on the tail pop out. How it will look on the smaller aircraft, I think it may overpower it.

It may just be the pic/my CPU, but the leaf actually is kind of difficult to see in these. Also, it looks a good bit too low on the tail.

After looking at the pics above, it does look a little low, but I don't think it looks terrible. I think they could have maybe lightened up the tail a little to make it stand out more..but i think it looks fine.

I would have liked this livery on Air China, it has a stern dont mess with me look suited to that country.

No, all of AC's 789s have 298 seats. All of AC's widebody aircraft are either 30 or 31inch pitch in Y, with the exception of the 763.

Yeah, I thought so, thanks for clarifying.
I think the decision to go 10-abreast on the 773 have made them terribly unpopular on A.net. Literally overnight they went from being "the best airline in North America" to being one to adamantly avoid! ;-) You don't fu*k with seating over here!

Well it's not like they are the only one in that club, most large airlines have gone that way on the 777 and only one fleet of 787s is across...

After C-FJNX remains C-GIUB, C-FGKN, C-FGKZ, and C-FGKP and if they decide they don't want a Star Alliance livery anymore which I see as unlikely they have C-GITU to do. Hard to believe that after C-FJNX they only have 4 A321s left to repaint!

My guess is ROW was closed when it was ferried and it diverted to ABQ.I could be wrong.

Likely customs requirements.

A ferry flight would not have been pre-cleared.

I like the new livery overall, but it does kind of feel like going backwards a bit. I especially like the black around the cockpit window. I found the light greenish of the former livery to look "fresh".

Saw the 787 and A321s at YYZ this weekend and I have to say it looks awesome. Can't wait to be back with the camera!! The evening sunlight on those tinted windows (felt tinted) up front as they passed overhead to land on Rwy 23..wonderful!!

Longing to see the 773ERs. They will look magnificent.

I would have preferred this livery in a very dark grey, with the Maple from the turqoise livery on tail and next to the title minus the rondelle, I know the rondelle is traditional and stays but it needn't if you go to see, every airline save a few have broken away from their older logos.

It is a very jarring change when compared to the previous livery--which itself was very good. But looked at individually, I think it's just as good. Saying that "black represents Canada" is an abstract view... or a ridiculous stretch. The livery is smart, clean, and still quite bold. Looks good on the fleet so far!
