With the US/AA merger CLT is American's second largest hub in terms of destinations and flights with ORD 3rd.

Then why were there 744s in service for many years and until just recently? Sounds like he is indicting past management for poor fleet allocation.

It could mean that ORD will be a hub for the similarly-sized a350-1000 united is getting (most likely). I also see the 787-10 becoming a common type we will see at ORD in the future.

Under somewhat different circumstances American had been pulverised by Southwest at STL, Swiss by EasyJet at GVA and Malév completely by WizzAir and the other locusts.

STL Hub was let go due to the lack of O/D AA only went after STL as relief to ORD & DFW due to all the delays once 9/11 happened there was no need to relieve ORD & DFW and without a big O/D STL was on the chopping block. AA's ORD for many many years was mismanaged until the merger with US. Now I don't see AA folding up and leaving sure UA will take away some but not enough to force AA to leave. Also Chicago has 3 airlines with HUBS when you throw in SW at MDW

I wonder what LCC Kirby has planned for Polaris. Lots of "enhacements" in the pipeline I'm sure. If only he could've taken Dougie with him.
