Front gear ripped off from an AA MD80

Wed Mar 01, 2017 4:31 am

Hello everybody

Today I discovered on Twitter this video about a very expensive fail commited on a parked AA MD-80. It seems this occured because the parking brakes were still on.

I tend to think this plane will not be repaired considering the MD-80s leaving the AA fleet

I'll call that an accelerated retirement.

And by the way, anybody knows the tail number and location? I tend to think it's DFW but can't be 100% sure

That's just painful to watch. I have no experience on the ramp, but incidents like this seem to stem from pure negligence and lack of attention to detail. Maybe if he hadn't have just floored it, he wouldn't have effectively written off an airplane.

It's an old video that was discussed on this forum a while back. Sadly this isn't the only time aa did this.

FWIW, this exact video was previously discussed on a.net two years ago.
