@anshabhi.....one solid reason not to disband IR :D

The silent hero of the whole story was AI CMD Ashwani Lohani. No other CMD can show such courage to ban an MP. Forever.
You also need to thank Modi government for minimal political interference into AI. Could some fragile CMD under UPA even think of doing so? He would offer himself to be beaten..

Domestic terminal of IGI airport will soon be a Metro ride away
By the end of this year, the domestic terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport will be a Metro ride away as the DMRC’s upcoming Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden line is set to have a stop metres away from Terminal 1. With four interchange stations plotted on the 38-km line, it will connect commuters from all parts of the capital, as well as Gurgaon and Noida.

I have seen this metro constructing! Its probably going to be India's first driverless subway line.

Lucknow airport to get a new terminal

Lucknow airport may soon get a new terminal. Airports Authority of India on Friday appointed a consultant for development of a terminal building at the airport.
Estimated at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore, the integrated terminal building will have facilities for both domestic and international flyers.

I think there's space for PE in India. Probably not on short haul though.

We talk a lot about Boeing's MOM in the US. But I feel like the bigger market for that airplane is in places like India. Especially between the Tier 1 cities. Perfect for medium-high capacity and frequency. Hourly shuttles with 200-250 pax each.

Right. Not only intra-India but MOM would also be best suited for India-SE Asia & China routes, which I think is the next Europe-USA.

Civil Aviation Minister makes big promises for Surat:

"We need to connect Surat airport with many more cities. We will soon add Surat from Patna and Ranchi. Further, we will also add Jaipur, Mumbai and Bengaluru with Surat in coming days," he added.

He said an international flight to Sharjah or Dubai will also begin from Surat.

http://www.ptinews.com/news/8543505_Sur ... Sinha.html

While I am confident Air Arabia/EK would start an intl flight with even 0 load factor, it would be interesting to see which airlines will pick up these domestic routes.. Will IndiGo enter Surat?

First of all good to see the next generation of Indian av geeks take the Indian Aviation thread forward

wrt to Vistara operations at BOM,

With the new S17 schedule it seems we will just see them operate only two cities from BOM,
Namely BOM-DEL (eventually 9 daily ) and a single daily BOM-ATQ"

Since operations began it seems UK have managed to start and drop services from BOM to AMD GOI COK BLR, which have most likely failed because of being a single daily service and not having enough slots

Every domestic airline seems to be crying for slots at BOM , fairly evident with 9W not having added any more total departures than they did in the last 3 years .

On the international front however BOM is encouraging new routes hence we see CGK(via Bkk) and DPS (soon on Air Asia X) being added

Regards

Slots are given out as pairs and being regional they will be within a 60-90 min period also given this is govt backed the slots will have to be handed ou provided the carrier meets the requirements

Not only Citylink, but also Malindo recently. I have also seen a few Pilatus PC 7 trainers make tech stops here in the past few months. I don't know whether these were for the Indian Air Force or not . They were painted Red. The ones originally delivered to the IAF were blue.

Best aircraft to start a new route, IMO.

Came about since AI111/112 was moved to a 788.

That Malindo Air KUL-JED flight is the perfect opportunity for Suratis to get their first international flight. MoCA recently said Surat will be made an Intl airport.
This flight can be given full 5th freedom rights on both legs, with stop in Surat. It will give Suratis a flight to both Jeddah and Kuala Lampur.
Its operated by a B738. Surat has all the facilities for it.

Jet Airways may sell minority stake to raise funds

Jet Airways is working on a big fund-raising plan. Sources tell CNBC-TV18 that several interested suitors are in talks with Naresh Goyal's aviation firm for investments.

People privy to the development have told the channel that Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and sovereign wealth funds are in talks with Jet Airways

Etihad is going to increase it's stake in 9W.

Would love to see this turn to reality - a BLR-AMS flight timed well with KL/ DL's massive hub at AMS would be a perfect alternate to LH on routes to North America (KL has some incredible exotic destinations on offer too). And it would allow 9W FFPs to stick with 9W on both domestic and long haul intl - without the extra hop via BOM.
Incredible India!

Also 9W will be starting MAA-CDG. Most likely using the A330 as they deploy on the BOM-BLR/MAA sector.
