Irish discount airline Ryanair announced plans today to buy 175 new "Next Generation" 737-800 airplanes from Boeing, a nearly $15.6 billion deal that will expand Ryanair's fleet by more than 30%, and provide a crucial boost for recently struggling Boeing.
Ryanair will use the new jets to increase the size of its fleet to over 400 planes, and grow capacity by more than 100 million passengers per year across Europe by the end of 2018.
