Interesting. Thanks for the info. LOT's B738s have long been expected. They'll definitely need more in future to serve their growing market too.

Wait, this wasn't posted before? I remember seeing the 737-800 and 737-Max8 news in their in flight magazine back in December.

I knew I should have posted that!
KORD>RJAA>KORD day trip? Why not! The beauty of SA!
Yes, I use ICAO codes
Flown: PA-28, PA-38
Passenger on: A319/A320, A380, 737, 747-400, 757, 767, 777, 787-8/9
Finally got on a 747!

My comment are my own. I don't speak for any company.

It goes without saying, but adding several 738-sized aircraft facilitates upgauges across the whole network. Also, we're seeing increases in frequency to cities like VNO (up to 3x -> 5x daily this summer), TLL (2x-> 3x daily), LUX (daily -> 11 weekly) as well as new routes. Warsaw to Kaliningrad, Stuttgart, Astana, and Goteborg start this summer. Oslo, Teheran and Lublin are supposedly next.

Exciting times for LOT. The narrowbody fleet is growing. 4 787-9's are on the way to bolster the longhaul trunk routes (ORD, JFK, YYZ) and the Warsaw hub is gaining steam overall.

The 737-400 will be gone by the time the last 737 MAX 8 arrives towards the end of 2020.

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Some updates:

Due to a slight delay in delivery of the 737-800 for LOT we have some changes in their entry into service.

LOT Polish Airlines in a recent schedule update revised the planned service launch date for the Warsaw – Astana route, previously scheduled from 08MAY17. The 4 weekly 737-800 service (3 weekly in winter season) is now set to launch on 29MAY17.

LO195 WAW2250 – 0745+1TSE 738 x247
LO196 TSE1300 – 1415WAW 738 x135

With the delay of 737-800 introduction, London Heathrow and Paris CDG will begin to receive 737-800 operation on 15MAY17 and 16MAY17, respectively. In addition, the 737-800 inaugural flight is now scheduled as LO265 Warsaw – Amsterdam, departing WAW at 0725, followed by LO281 Warsaw – London Heathrow, departing WAW at 0730.

Would be interested in knowing that too. With OS also flying to LAX it seems both compete for the same passenger flows.

While I think the 737-800 is a great plane for LOT to be operating, as soon as I saw it, I must admit feeling pressured to go hop on their -400 before it's too late.

You've got about 2-3 more years to try. Their cabins got refurbished only last year.

LOT's 7th 787-8 SP-LRG is about to be delivered. The 8th boeing 787, SP-LRH will also arrive this year.

How are their 738s configured? There's no info on planespotters.net and the aircraft isn't yet listed on their website. Airfleets.net says it's Y186 but their website is so all over the place that I don't think of it as a very trustworthy source anymore (rightly or unrightly so).

186 is correct, they feature the same refurbished cabin as the 734, a couple posts up you can see how it looks (slimline seats and mood lightning). In business they simply block of the middle seat so the cabin stays flexible.

The fourth 737-800 SP-LWD is to join by the end of next month. My guess it is this ex-China Eastern aircraft that has been recently stored and is most likely undergoing a retrofit in Shanghai before being delivered via Lasham.

In 787 news, the 7th aircraft has completed all tests and is about to depart on it delivery flight any day now.

No, 737 MAX enters service the day after all the Classics are retired.

Recently LOT took delivery of its 8th B788 SP-LRH, next year the first B789 will arrive. Warsaw Airport has to be expanded as the current non-shengen area is pretty overcrowded already, whilst the airport is growing at about 25% in the first 6months already.

In total LCC-dominated times, great to see a flag carrier expanding. All the best to LOT!
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

Different AC type but LOT related news, the airline has just ordered 6 additional E195 jets from Embraer for delivery starting next year. No news yet whether they are intended to replace the E170s or for fleet growth. Meanwhile the first MAX is expected to enter service on the 7th of December on the WAW-LHR route.

Any link to this? Can't find anything on LOT or Embraer's sites?

Anyway, LOT seems to be quite offensive these days. Looking forward to see them at OSL next year

The order was announced by the CEO in an interview, couldn't find anything in English only a few sources in Polish.

Yes, LOT has adapted quite an aggressive expansion strategy and plans to double the amount of carried passengers by 2020 to 10million. If it works out only time will tell.

Good luck to them! Maybe they can offer a connection stop off service in Warsaw - brilliant city for a night or two.

Does anyone know if LOT regularly change equipment? I’m due to fly LHR-WAW-KBP next March and both flights are scheduled to be 738. (Any chance of a MAX or do those have specific routes?)

Incorrect. These are going to be used E195s, sourced via leasing company. They're not coming from Embraer, but another airline (I have no idea which one at the moment).
Proudly avoiding 737 MAX since 18.11.2020.

In either case good news for Embraer, their future in the airline seems assured for a good few more years to come.

LHR is supposed to become all MAX operated, not sure if by March it will but you have a good shot at it swapping to a MAX as the first destination for the MAX will be LHR.

KPB is a lottery, LOT sends about every plane it has in its fleet there, you can get the E170/E175/E195/B738/MAX 8 on this route by march.

Incorrect. These are going to be used E195s, sourced via leasing company. They're not coming from Embraer, but another airline (I have no idea which one at the moment).

Yes you are right, it seems like the E195 will be used ones from an undisclosed source. I got misled by an interview with the CEO who mentioned "new e195" jets, but he meant new as in additional and for growth. As soon as I have found out the source of the jets ill post it here.

Unlike E-190s, there aren't tons of E-195s. IIRC Azul recently announced selling some E-195s (or an intention to sell), that would be my best bet. Perhaps, although, LOT could pick up some from Austrian, which is getting A320 series from Air Berlin. Great news for LOT regardless!

You mean the ones they recently acquired from Lufthansa as a replacement for the F70 and F100? I seriously doubt that Austrian will get rid of planes they just received as replacement for its regional fleet. Austrian's own A320 fleet is quite old so I would expect the Air Berlin frames to either be a replacement for existing A320 or fleet growth.
