Heard that DL to dehub MSP

Sat Apr 01, 2017 3:50 pm

My best friend's sister was on a United Express flight last week. She overheard the FA mention that her colleague at American, whose brother used to work for Business Express (a Delta Connection carrier), learned that Delta is going to dehub MSP.

Sigh.... Of, course, it's April 1. But how often do we share rumors that are overheard by unreliable resourses?

Sounds like just that - a rumor. MSP is DL's second largest hub by seats and third (after DTW) by departures. It's a strong and growing business center and serves unique connecting flows. No reason to dehub it, and if they did, someone else would swoop in in a heartbeat.

I think I will take this very seriously given the date.

Im not sure MSP is growing, but it seems surprisingly healthy. It is DL's second largest hub after ATL, by seat count this summer according to another thread. Happy 4/1.

Maybe a better joke would be DL is giving up on SEA or AS is waiving the white flag at SEA after DL's attack. Or they plan to relaunch a hub at MEM.

Along these same lines, heard UA will be relocating its SFO hub to ACV and AA will be ordering 100 747-8i aircraft...

This would have been 100% credible if it was DTW. We all know DL hates that place.

And Ryanair will start Ryanair Interstellar to beat SpaceX to Mars all on ancillary fees.

Keep quiet, a poster not to be named (no its not the one you think) will come in and blast DTW.

The last I heard is Alaska Airlines is going to retire both the Virgin America name and the Alaska name to be called Jet America. It will move its base from SEA/PDX to MCI/STL to open more Midwest and east coast cities. It will be more like a combination of the TWA and Braniff 2. In addition, AS will buy new 787-10 equipment for flights to Europe and Asia. It's subsidiary Horizon will pick up some used SF-340 aircraft for regional connections.
