I'm not believing everything on the internet. Thing is, the guy who posted this stuff is usually good informed by Boeing people. It's actually the first time I have seen posting him something that is incorrect.

Understand as the net does leave something to the imagination at times. This was a real deal a week ago, but to many obstacles to overcome in a very short time. Who knows it could rekindle and start all over again.

Worth remembering that the heavy hand of religion is there on any potential deals for IR. For instance, the Emirati would blow their planes up in the desert before they would lease to Iran.

It's an obstacle to so many deals that make common sense in that region. The Shia-Sunni schism makes regional powers into enemies and there is no love lost across the Gulf.

As for that TK aircraft, how much belongs to Turkish? Buyer furnished equipment? The licence to export also needs redoing if Boeing sells it to IR. Extremely doubtful that it could all be pulled together in a couple of weeks. If Turkish was planning a factory gate sale to a lessor then that needs untangling as well.

Excuse me, but that is an incredibly asinine statement you are making, conflating the Shia/Sunni schism with business in the Gulf. The Emirates are one of Iran's largest and trading partners, especially Dubai. A lot of trade and a lot of direct flights occurs daily between Iran and the various Gulf states. The Saudis are really the only Sunni state that Iran is having issues with, but that has less to do with religion, and more to do with geopolitics and regional influence, particularly in Yemen.

If EK wants to sell IR some used 777's they'll do it without giving it a second thought.

TK is to take delivery of it and then sell it straight to IR. Could the US block that? I can see a shit storm brewing with Turkey if that happens and Erdogan is not a particularly stable individual.

Personally I think there's far too much politics to overcome for this to happen any time soon. Too many powerful heads in the political trough with their own personal agendas.

Dont think that the USA could block a sale to Iran...Iranian carriers at huge customers at Boeing, and a blocking of the sale would only hamper Boeing...as the Iranian carriers just turn to Airbus instead.
