Wing size is determined by area, not span. The 779 has a significantly smaller wing so the span is an irrelevant measurement.
So the 779 is 1 foot longer than the 748. Equally meaningless as it is narrower and has no upper deck.

This disrespect for the 748 is getting old...

It will be very interesting to hear more details. I am sure they will announce something big and truly desirable if they want to stay relevant.

I think the CX J seats on the 77Ws are the best out there, but the catering is sad even for premium economy. If they refreshed and updated the onboard service with the current seats, the product could last another decade.

If they plan to keep the reverse herringbone configuration, there's not much else you can do with what you have on the A350.

Probably a bigger screen with 4K resolution, probably a relocation of the remote control, outlets, storage knooks and crannies and enhanced finish and trim. If there is a drastic change, it will be most likely the bed length and width.

If you'll see any drastic changes, it'll probably be in F. But I kind of like it the way it is. It just needs a bigger and better screen, connectivity options like in the J seat of the A350, probably better storage options and that's about it.

Depends on the application. Gate/taxiway/runway utilization couldn't care less about area, only span... and neither are an inconsequential consideration for aircraft ops.

One could easily argue that a model so thoroughly rejected by the overwhelmingly majority of the market, deserves no respect.

CX stays on the cutting edge. It's almost hard to keep track of how many times they referb J/F.

From the concepts I have seen, some features are cutting edge.

The surprise may be they are keeping First Class on their 777-9 fleet. One 777-9 operator, Lufthansa, has announced the high class will be Business which is surprising since LH has always been a big First Class airline. Cathay will probably do a suite in their 777-9 First Class.

AA should announce a new F cabin as well. Their cabins have been in flux for more than a decade now, so it would be business as usual.

Maybe a seat provider switch? Everybody seems to be having problems with Zodiac. Even CX, whose new 359 seats are being redone already.

Yep. Maybe something with more privacy (like a door) but keep the sky office dealt thing. seems to have a bit of appeal among business pax and travel bloggers alike

I remember there were rumours saying that CX will not keep first class. So they are keeping first class in the long run. Good.

Its no disrespect unfortunately the world is moving to 2 engine planes. I wish otherwise but it is where the world is heading and the thinking.

Would be interesting if Cathay Pacific does enclosed suites for first and business class.

I thought Doug et al wanted to keep F for ultra high yielding routes? A "office-bed" with a door and maybe a wider seat would be nice...
