Sat Apr 22, 2017 5:46 pm

Simply i am asking what would it take to make the LGB Baggage Claim a Closed Air Facility.
Well uh, I obviously decided to refine this but i dont know how.

Money $$ and desire suppose.

When LGB unveiled its highly acclaimed terminal remodel in 2012 they obviously opted to maintain much of the open-air feel of the facility and kept the original baggage claim facility space which being part of the historical landmark facility would have be maintained regardless if used or not.

Tell the NIMBYs that it will reduce noise and it will be done in a week.

I love the LGB baggage claim, just like I love the old departure area at PSP, with the putting green and the outside feel. (Assuming that they haven't "remodeled and upgraded" that area.)

I got drenched at Christmas waiting for my bags from a Jet Blue flight at LGB. Not to mention walking off the airplane into a gale. No umbrellas waiting and the back stairs were as slippery as S*&t. Both the airport and the airlines need to come up with a foul weather solution for those gates. I thought we had found our oasis from LAX, but who knows?

What's your argument that spending the money and disrupting current services is worth the effort?

Well, it would definitely benefit when it rains since it is Open Air, when it is cold, when it is hot (and it gets hot a lot of times here in California if you haven't known that yet). It would help when it's windy amongst other benefits.

Which when bearing in mind the mostly sunny skies we have in Southern California really makes it even less worth "fixing".

There are roofs on both baggage claim locations. Claim 1 & 2 are also largely enclosed.

Hardly worth the cost.

I just don't like waiting for my baggage when my parents insist on gate checking in when free. Darn 90 And Up weather during summer.
