744F bounced landing @ Schiphol

Sun Apr 23, 2017 5:28 pm

Yesterday VP-BCH from Baku was captured as it bounced back into the air after a hard landing runway 36R at Amsterdam Schiphol.
According to the smoking chimneys, there likely was a good deal of crosswind at the time.

Call out the maintenance team for a hard landing inspection. Way to much sink rate. 50 40 30 BANG!! ....30 20 10 touchdown number 2!

Looked like they landed very short as well looking at the runway markings

They were on target the second time round! :lol:

In all seriousness, the aircraft must be fine as it has operated two flights since this hard landing yesterday. FR24 is showing the aircraft as since operating AMS-GYD and then GYD-KBP.

Quite a testament to how strong and well built the landing gear is. That was some serious force on the gear, flaps and plane in general.

Seem that someone managed to get a side on photo of the landing. Would have been interesting to see a video from the same angle.

Did they try to break the craft in order to spend some more time in Amsterdam?

Quite a testimony to the build quality of this 744.

Must have been lightly loaded then.
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

One of the flight crew was behind on his landing quota for the month, so logged two on one approach. :-{)}}}

About as hard as i've seen without something obvious breaking, hope they really did a hard landing inspection.

He looked too slow and well below glideslope, interesting to see the spoilers extend, then retract as the weight comes off the wheels again.
A testimony to the strength of the aircraft.

How sure can we be an inspection took place? Wasn't there a case a few months ago where landing gear damage was found on an aircraft after it had already made numerous flights after a hard landing?

***Armchair expert. During bounced landings, I don't think I've ever seen spoilers deploy that much or for that long when the plane is just above the runway after the bounce. It's 4 seconds into the clip.
