Well what a big waste of resources and money for an airline that is about to announce staff cuts. I get the intent behind it but rather wasteful if you ask me.

Oh get real, the cost of this flight was miniscule in the context of their overall financial position.

Yes that extra $500 jet fuel is really going to make life extra difficult at the billion dollar valued enterprise

It is a charity flight for underprivileged kids and their family who has never flew on an airplane before. It is good corporate work. The flight last 1.5 hours. So they can choose to fly a straight line out for 45 mins and back... or they can do something like this which is kind of fun and cute. Also a flight like this must have been organize months ago, way before the recent restructuring.

These are planned months in advance and are not only an excellent corporate responsibility initiative but some would even say that are mandatory under the forced village relocation that resulted in the current airport being built. yes the timing isn't great in light of today's other announcement but this is pure coincidence rather than ill intent. these flights happen at least annually perhaps even more often.

They have probably gained more exposure than advertising in a local newspaper for the same cost.
