Saudia A320 damaged by ground fire

According to social media, fire broke out on a ground power unit and damaged the nose section of a Saudia A320.

No further details have been given.

Wow, id imagine a fair amount of heat damage would be done under the nose, and with the direction the smoke went, the cockpit windows could of taken heat damage too. Good job

Probably just smoke damage.

re paint nose and go flying! J/K LOL! I'm sure replace nose and some re do windows. It's not gonna be written off Silly insurance does not want to spend a whole aircraft cost!

The reliability of Ground Service Equipment is generally appalling.
It hasn't been that long ago that this happened somewhere in Europe, as I recall...
Makes a good case for parking GPU's FAR AWAY from the aircraft!

What a sad aircraft. The same aircraft was involved in a ground contact incident with a B777 back in 2015 https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=178551

This likely happend on May 20, 2017 already. Aircraft should be back in operation as of tomorrow.
