Over on EKs Facebook and website they have announced the long awaited new F product will debut in November 2017.

The product will launch on the 777-300ER in a 1-1-1 config compared to the current 1-2-1 cross section.

Dubai, UAE, 30 May 2017 – Emirates today confirmed that its new First Class product will be showcased at the Dubai Air Show in November. Making its debut onboard a Boeing 777-300ER, Emirates’ new First Class cabin will feature 6 private suites laid out in a 1-1-1 layout, compared to the existing 8 private suites in a 1-2-1 layout on its existing 777 fleet.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this. Hopefully we'll see something in line with the Etihad F product?

Australian Business Traveller highlights the seating plan loaded into the GDS suggests that (at least) the centre-cabin suites might be bigger to accommodate a 'class above First' with miss-aligned doors suggesting two distinct spaces in the new suites. Perhaps a separate bed and seat.

Exciting times ahead.. As per the statement, it seems all three cabins are making some changes.. EK will still continue to inspire the Aviation Industry.

Chances of anyone flying on one of these any time soon is slim - the initial deliveries will go on specific routes (like the newer RR EU* 380 frames that seem to be in an endless cycle of DXB-BKK-DXB) and I doubt they will be retro-fitting the old frames, so they'll initially have 4 to 6 of these that hardly anyone will get to go on as they wont be sent out on any old routes they'll be purposely sent on specific routes.

That is the problem. I believe they have 22 more 77Ws on order. 2 will likely be delivered with the current product between now and November so the new products will likely only be on the last 20 deliveries. Assuming (now that retirements have started) that the 77W will stay at +-130 frames, the new products will be on only 15% of that fleet and less than 8% of the total fleet. Not very good chances for someone hoping to try it out...

This is my general gripe with airlines that keep aircraft in their fleets for short periods of 10-15 years. EK, QR, SQ stand out the most. Airlines that have very innovative hard products but only some aircraft feature these products.

Airlines that keep aircraft for most, if not all, of their useful life, tend to have better overall product consistency. BA, CX, LX, LH (eventually...), etc.
Never be proud. Always be grateful.
