El Al modified livery

Wed Jul 12, 2017 9:10 am

The 787 seems to have had some light/dark shading added to the flag.

EDIT: and the engines will be blue!

No lettering yet might mean new letter types coming as well?

The tail is painted first on the 787s for weight and balance and then if it's going off site to have the fuselage done they just give it a quick once over in white, which is what you're seeing here. It might be waiting for a paint shop slot at PAE or more likely, is scheduled to be done down at PDX.

The fuselage sections are painted white before assembly. Boeing's primer/protection for the CFRP is different than Airbus's, which looks like more the traditional primer used on aluminum (although it is more brown).

I love the pictures from the link. Adds a nice bit of flair without being radically different.

El Al will have a fresh new start with new long haul planes, along with a fresh new livery.

For whatever it's worth, as a regular El Al passenger, the in-flight service has markedly improved in the last year or so. Their prior reputation was rather well-deserved, but recent flights have seen pleasant flight attendants and improved meals. The IFE is still a joke, but the 787 will rectify that.
