According to OKC reporter on twitter (confirmed by airport).

New airline and new destination.

With OKC seeing service from AA, AS, DL, G4, UA, and WN that really only leaves NK, B6, or a return of F9 to the market as possible candidates.

Frontier seems the most likely. They just updated their October schedule with (seemingly) a lot of reduction and fewer offsetting additions. So they are ripe for a new-route announcements tomorrow. If I had to guess there will be a bunch of new less-than-daily Florida flying, and OKC could be on the list.

OKC would be out of character for what NK has been doing and especially B6. Not impossible but just not a strong bet for tomorrow’s press release.

Digging into the Frontier website, it is showing OKC, BUF and GRR as destinations. They don't show up on the home page but when you go to the secondary pages to edit the flights, these cities show on the list.

F9 is all over the map. They did fairly well to DEN before Menke came in flushed the company down the toilet. A few airlines have came in and offered OKC to Florida routes on less than daily service unsuccessfully. Doubt it would be B6 as their service in fly over country is less than impressive......

WOW GRR would be a great add.

Sounds like F9 has announcements for MIA tomorrow. I also have seen people mentioning a CVG announcement tomorrow. So it makes sense this will be F9 also.

Airline to announce expanded service from Austin July 18
AUSTIN, Texas – More flights are coming to Austin! On Tuesday, July 18 an incumbent domestic carrier will announce plans to more than double its number of nonstop destinations from Austin. This announcement will, both, add to the total number of nonstop destinations available out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and offer additional options to cities currently served.

An airline representative will announce the full list of destinations and provide additional details at a press event at the Barbara Jordan terminal on Tuesday, July 18 at noon. Opportunities for one-on-one interviews with the airline will be available following the official announcement.

F9 today barely resembles the airline that tried this 7 years ago. Might as well call it a new airline at this point.

I agree, just posting the observation. They do have the data from the previous route however, so I would be surprised if it was MCO or TPA again. We'll see tomorrow.

F9, as said, is likely but as for new destinations - top F9 stations include DEN, MCO, LAS, ORD, ATL, and PHL. Of these, OKC does not have service to just PHL. They also do not have service to CLE and CVG as well as MIA and TPA which are also warm weather stations.

I have been puzzled as to why NK does not fly to OKC and/ or TUL as it seems like NK's ULCC model would be a hit with service to the likes of LAS and FLL.

MIA-OKC on F9. Pretty safe bet.

FWIW, G4 has some presence on both OKC/TUL to LAS.

MCI is also teasing a new service announcement tomorrow, wonder if they are part of this too

We're not worthy enough to warrant NK's strip mining operations of random airports...yet.

But we're barely managing to hang onto sporadic G4 service to LAS, VPS, LAX and SFB, so I doubt NK would give us a serious look until it can be proven that a ULCC can have sustained presence here in the face of AA/WN

Isn't this a resumption of service and not "new service"? I seem to recall Frontier serving OKC in the 2000s. Think it was using Lynx Aviation DHC8s to DEN, but that should still count as Frontier service.

Agree with the WN factor. However, with the $$$ in the pockets of the current owners of F9, they are no longer apprehensive to go head to head with Southwest or anyone else in their quest for the more almighty dollars.

Nice! OKC-SAN in 2018 (and TUL-SAN as well!)

Some of us in SAN have been wishing quite hard for service to OKC and I personally, thought it might be AAG that would jump on it (with a daily EMJ perhaps.) Instead F9 jumps first with, I assume, sub-daily -- maybe a split daily op with TUL? -- and seasonal or year-round, I don't know.

Whatever they will actually offer, I'm very pleased! And congrats to OKC for getting a new carrier!

Weelll.....back in the goodle daze, FL was in OKC with 580's, then 732's & MD's.....then Lorenzo came along with his smart ideas and....you know the rest. But thinking back to the wild 'n woolly late 80's, even PA and Northeast Int'l were in.....and every trunk carrier (save NA) and our own little local service Trans Central (flying ex-PI YS-11's). Gates & counters were shared, with agents almost standing on top of each other (this was before terminal and ramp expansion) and there were non-stops to both coasts (AA even ran a couple DC-10's daily to LAX and were usually almost full) & a lot of places between. Then the mergers started, and AA's & DL's hub & spoke system came into vogue, and here we are. Looks like that may be waning a little (WN never really went for it)....we can only hope.

If new Frontier comes back here, hopefully their employee morale will be better than 10-12 yrs ago. But they were facing a lot of uncertainty then....maybe it's better now.

Not a new carrier for us...F9 served OKC from DEN (and MCO/TPA for awhile) from around 2002 til just a few years ago...it's a return to the market for them.

Sean and Ted Christie are two big reasons why Frontier wasn't liquidated. I don't know about Sean's overall CEO acumen, but he was handed a meltdown and helped steer F9 through it - not to mention that infamous Southwest takeover offer which was nothing more than a liquidation.

Huge, huge add for OKC! Our market is sorely lacking ULCC options - fares are usually insane here. Here's wishing F9 much success. Interesting they chose SAN and not LAX or event ONT. Will be curious to see how that route does. G4 seems to be doing well in OKC-LAX.
