First 757 built is flying again

Thu Jul 27, 2017 2:50 am

I had a meeting across from BFI yesterday and noticed N757A was parked in a new location. Checking Flight Aware it appears this 35 year old plane has made a round trip to STL. The 'Catfish' is shown to be owned by BOEING LOGISTICS SPARES INC. and was specially modified to be the F-22 Avionics testbed.
Any idea what it's now doing after several years of inactivity?

Is Boeing going to reopen the 757 line in St. Louis? - Sorry sarcasm there :sarcastic:

Are they ever gonna remove the F-22 nose?

Boeing Defense is HQ'd in STL where they build the F-18 and the F-15, so it's not as crazy as you think it is.

Delta should by it and use it as a charter aircraft. AA is ditching several NFL teams.

Still don't understand why the 2nd 787 wasn't chosen instead, it's in ANA livery too.

I wish. Flying on a commercial jet with a F-22 nose would be epic.

Not sure you would notice is it in the back ;-).
Love flying, hate the alarm at 3 in the morning, love watching the sun rise at 5:30. It's all about compromises.

Does this 757 fly faster or have any other enhanced performance due to the nose and "catfish" wings? (which I assume are the wings above the front)

It remarkable to me how many changes can be made to an airframe and it is still airworthy!!! I think about AWAX and beluga, and dreamlifter and always amazed "that can fly!?!"

Guess the first 777 will be heading back to Boeing soon. 2018 I hear it's finished flying.
737-300/400/500 ... are NOT classics :)

I wonder if there are pitch control issues with this "canard" during landing, especially at flare.
