MCI Airport Route Announcement — Miami Air to Punta Cana

Sun Jul 30, 2017 11:48 pm

Hinting at a new route to a sun destination.

NK to TPA? G4 to FLL? Caribbean destination?

"Smash that [blue heart emoji] if you like new nonstop routes from @KCIAirport. Potential announcement tomorrow... [beach umbrella emoji]"

Allegiant is due to roll out an extended schedule (I think they are only available until mid-February) so they are a decent bet,

I could see Southwest possibly adding nonstop service from MCI to CVG and PHL in the future, even though Southwest did not announce any new routes out of MCI in its July 27th expansion.

What part of "beach umbrella emoji" did you not understand... -he said while trying to keep a straight face.

Neither CVG or PHL are beach destinations.

Btw, in the comments it mentions SJD as the destination, can't confirm that, but if it is true that would be huge for MCI and likely be on WN...

I'm sincerely hoping its not another (most likely already served) Florida destination or more service to already saturated Cancun. Most of the new service to MCI over the past few years have largely been "me too" routes that were already served. Please let it be a new market or at least a new airline. How realistic would it be for B6 to announce MCI-FLL or a new destination to Mexico?

Sounds like F9 to CUN, possibly year round now.

Correct that was already announced.

G4 to FLL is my final guess.

My money's on G4 to JAX or a Caribbean destination. Spirit to FLL seems like a possibility as well.

I'm guessing it's the new ViaAir seasonal flight to Steamboat Springs. Similar route also from Austin.

^^

MCI already announced that as did this Twitter user...not to mention Steamboat Springs wouldn't merit a umbrella beach emoji.

MCI already announced that as well, it's all over their twitter, if that is the announcement it would be pretty odd...

Is the "Smash that [blue heart emoji]" an indication of a particular airline?

Someone asked that in a reply, I would think yes, as the blue heart emoji on Apple isn't typically the first choice unless previously used. The color blue matches fairly close to that of G4 and kinda of WN (old school Canyon Blue). I would gander to guess, the blue is a hint for sure.

FLL? I'd like to see it be B6, because they have been relatively quite as of late.

I'm kinda curious why he mentions a "potential" announcement. What exactly is a "potential" announcement?

I'll be interested in what this turns out to be for you folks in KC... hope it's something exciting!

I'm going to guess not WN or it would have been announced Thursday. The blue heart could be his default from being used for the Royals.

F9 also just announced so they are out, imo.
I feel like G4 just announced an extension a couple weeks ago also.
I think if it was a new carrier that would have been mentioned as well. I semi feel the same for international but maybe not for just carribean/Mexico.

Maybe NK (I don't follow their schedule updates) or some kind of vacation charter? I guess it could always be one of DL/AA/UA. They don't seem to have a set schedule update.

Agreed...step below an Allegiant announcement. But new flights are new flights, as a KC native I appreciate the options.

Lots of people checking out the DR around here (in Kansas City), so I could see it doing decently.

I'm just happy it's not another airline flying to Cancun...four is enough.

While I'm sure this might be big news to MCI flyers, had BA announced flights to LHR or B6 opened up service from MCI. But a 1x per week seasonal flight.....meh.
Remind me to send a thank you note to Mr. Boeing.

This post is proof you should read everything in the thread/links instead of just the thread title. Glad MCI is getting some variety with PUJ.

Well even more interesting was the flight to Steamboat Co-- first current non hub midsize city to have a ski flight in the country
Instead of typing in "mods", consider using the report function.
Love how every "travel blogger" says they will never fly AA/Ethihad again and then says it again and again on subsequent flights.
