Must be something else with both AA & DL reductions. The Atlantis resort is in Nassau, not Freeport.

Perhaps not coincidentally, there's a CRJ maintenance facility in CKB.

Skywest will serve CKB because they have been chosen as the new carrier for Essential Air Service.

ROC-PHL gets 2 two class jets for the first time in a while with 2 175.
While the loss of mainline isn't good this change means more first class seats with CR9 and 175s having 12 seats versus 8 in a A319. There is also more frequency to CLT.

I still find it interesting that CKB and MGW are EAS markets. They are both such an easy drive to PIT. However, it is nice to see them both keep service as they are both very quaint little airports. Are there any other EAS markets in the east served by jets?

First time DL has run more than 1x daily between BOS and LAX in the winter.

Back in summer of 2013, YQB had 4 daily UA flights to EWR, and 2x daily to JFK. This summer, it was down to just 2x daily EWR service and 1x daily JFK, as you said. Next summer, only 2x daily EWR will be left. Quite the dowgauge on YQB-NYC. Here's hoping UA picks up the slack and returns to 3 or 4x daily on the route.

For a "hub - hub" route, DL is really a bit player with less than 2 daily.

FPO has been on a downward spiral for ages. Its akin to "End of Ottoman Empire/"sick man of Europe" point right now.
They just cannot compete with PUJ, CUN and to a lesser extent AUA.

Near term cuts are not real common for WN and to see 3 come from a connection of the same metro areas is especially surprising. If they are short a plane, why wouldn't it be spread out more?

Don't count on the loss of mainline being long term, simply seasonal adjustments. Similar to what UA does in ROC around then. PHL has been planned for a while as far as introducing 2 class.

Currently it's a CRJ2. The route started back in 2013 with 2x daily service on 50 seater as well. The odd upgauge was more than likely, but nothing permanent I think.MIflyer12 wrote:

YQB is opening an new international terminal with preclearance in the near future. I was there in June and half the airport was under construction. Maybe enplanement fees are going up because of that?

I think it is actually a 60 seat 737-700. All FC seating.

Is YUL the issue or is it something else? YQB-YUL is drivable but it's not very much fun.

That's all good to hear. I work for Envoy part time at ROC. I headed rumors that the former US Airways and now American employees were leaving ROC and the station would go all Envoy. I guess mainline leaving and this rumor are unrelated.

Well then whoever is subsidizing the FPO flights that come and go. I know for a fact there is a subsidy program for FPO.

Maintenance makes sense as their schedule is weird otherwise. Inbound flight gets to CKB at 1:45pm and then RON returning next morning at 6:10am. So it gets maintenance from 1:45 overnight.
This is no doubt the only reason that UA/OO agreed to this route, regardless of the EAS money.
