Last AA (Piedmont) Dash8-100 flight 11/29

Tue Aug 15, 2017 1:09 am

The last flight for Piedmonts Dash8-100 will be from MDT to PHL on 11/29 at 10:00am AA4852. Earlier in the day two other Dash flights will operate from HVN and IPT. Everything will be replaced with ERJ 145's and CR2's. It is a big upgrade but I will miss these old birds as I have worked with them over the years at IPT and MDT. I just bought my ticket to be abord the very last flight!!! Dash Trash Forever!!!!! Lol

The 200s were retired by Piedmond about 9 years ago

Wow, sad to see the Dash 8s go. My favorite aircraft to fly on growing up. Great sound, inside and out.

There is still award availability on the final flight. I have a ticket speculatively booked so I might see you there!

I'll miss the baby Dash, much better than a crj up to about 250 miles.

How so? It's loud and so short. It's like 6 rows.

9 rows seating 37.
Row 9 is 5 abreast at rear of cabin.
The -300 series which seat 50 will remain in service for the time being for CLT flights.
A tough, reliable airplane which performed for years at Henson/Piedmont for PI, US and now AA.
The ERJ-145 is a major upgrade for Piedmont, and the proud employees of this great regional airline.
Best Wishes and safe travels in the future for the "bird" and its employees.
watch what you want. you may get it.

The CRJ-200s are dropping like flies at AA. Who will have them FY17 besides PSA?

I thought PSA was going to all all 700 and 900's.

I believe there will still be a smattering left post-Air Wisconsin operating with PSA and some of the non-wholly-owned carriers, but to be sure, AA is clearly moving rapidly and deliberately towards fewer single-class regional aircraft, and all of them being ERJs. I've said many times - my personal expectation is that, within a few years, AA's entire single-class fleet will consist entirely of the 118 ex-Envoy ERJ145s, distributed approximately evenly between DFW, ORD, PHL and CLT, with some flowing through (but not based in) a few other hubs. I see AA eventually moving to nearly or fully 2-class at LGA and DCA to mirror what has already happened at LAX and (for the most part) PHX, and in general the rest of AA's network being operated with 2-class RJs or mainline.

Which reminds me of the Beechcraft, 9 rows of 2 plus a last row middle seat, for a total of 19 passengers!

I enjoyed both aircraft types a lot. The Beechcraft flies like a rocket ship. The Dash is a lumbering but stout airplane with a roomy interior. Last flight for me was LGA-PHL. The FA warned me when I asked for a coffee, "this isn't going to be Starbucks" meaning the coffee maker is pretty bad. But I enjoyed the flight, bulkhead I think. .

Sad to see them go, my last flight on one was after hurricane Sandy PHL-SWF, lots of flooding to be seen over northern NJ and Orange County on that day.

That said as a Williamsport native I am pretty stoked to see jets overhead when I go out there to visit family.
Your signature's one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent signature, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this site's now dumber for having read it

I was under the impression that they would eventually.

Coincidentally, Envoy had 35x CRJ-700s (4x have been sent to PSA thus far), and PSA has 35x CRJ-200s.

Air Whisky flying should be gone by the beginning of next year, at the latest.

I agree completely with your assumption, and add to the fact that most of the E140s are returning to service as well, primarily to cover for Air Wisconsin.

But the E145 fleet is getting fairly aged, the oldest, N600BP, is just about 20 years old! In the not so distant future, you may see batches leaving service.

The 100's never offer all 37 seats, usually 33-34 seats. The 300's had the 2 front back facing seats removed for 48 seats.

Seats are more comfortable than a crj200, good pair of noise cancelling head phones and some mp3s take care of the noise, and if you could grab row 9 to yourself you could stretch out. Above 250miles though, the extra time savings of an RJ are better.

It looks like Piedmont will still have a maintenance base at MDT for the E145’s.
I personally didn’t mind flying the Dash’s. Seemed to have a little more room than the CRJ.
Also UA does not appear to be flying the Q200 anymore from MDT-IAD.
