One of the many issues with the article is that the airplane (20335) stopped flying in 2000, and has since been broken up at Subang. Ohio-based PSA?

Without time to research this, I am sure that somewhere in the world a DC-3 will still be plying its way with paying pax

Absolutely, there are a couple in Colombia. There used to be one in Bolivia as well, doing flights to Uyuni for AeroSur. Somebody knows if it's still active? And I'm sure there are still some in Canada.

How old are the DC-3's at Buffalo Airways (airline featured in Ice Pilots)? I would guess they are still doing commercial passenger flights?

At present, Buffalo doesn't run scheduled service, but the DC-3 is offered for charter.

The last 737-100 flying was the America West one that was used as the Phoenix Suns charter, AFAIK. That airplane has been retired for awhile.

I don't get the reference to Ohio based PSA. Did San Diego based PSA fly the airplane for awhile? I doubt it because PSA phased out their 737 fleet in the early 1970s.

Also, Air California didn't fold. It was bought out by AA in 1987.

P-552 is from 1976 and is still flying.
It is by far the oldest Tu-154 still in service.

Mexican Air Force outlasted the America West airplane.

The original PSA did lease the airplane for a couple of years in 1973. The Telegraph is unaware that the original PSA is not the Dayton-based American Eagle carrier.

Yup. The company called PSA is based in Dayton, and I drive by the headquarters all the time. They operate RJs for AA and previously for USAirways.

http://www.psaairlines.com/

But of course they never had anything to do with this this 737, and this is why google research doesn't work! The airplane flew for PSA, the great California carrier that was eventually absorbed by US in 1987! I also love that they called Braniff a "Dallas based outfit" as if it was totally obscure. Oh well Harding Lawrence and Mary Wells!

I was going to say - the Air Chathams CV-580s are older than any jet aircraft, and I believe multiple ships are still in service.

From October to April (Southern Summer) - Air Chathams use there DC-3 on selected Saturday/Sunday services between AKL-WAG. ZK-AWP was built in 1935 (81 years old).

Then there passenger CV-580s end up on AKL-WAG,CHT,WHK regularly - for example ZK-CIB was built in 1953 (65 years old)

The oldest passenger plane I have ever seen fly into JFK within the past 5 years on a charter was Nolinor C-GNLK, a 1974 Boeing 737-2K2 convertible. I suspect that the last 737-200 flying will probably be somewhere in Canada, and I would not be surprised if these planes eventually get de-pressurized permanently to keep them even longer as they can land on gravel runways in the harsh Canadian north.

That said, in terms of Air Chathams, their DC-3 is from 1945 and originally registered 44-76803 for the US Air Force.

Speaking of, I know it was on the Tonga registry for a while, but is this the longest-lasting registration in the world for a single-aircraft, being on the civilian register since 1952 (minus its time on the Tonga registry)? (I read how it dodged the scrapper multiple times with other DC-3s being scrapped for donor parts.)

I flew on a FLYSAX DC-9-14 this year, it's older than anything else listed on that weblink.

Global Air of Mexico have some B737-200s that date from the 70s, not 100% sure if they fly scheduled services though.

The Telegraph article is interesting but incomplete as many aircraft types have been excluded.

Oldest passenger aircraft in service could be one of the three Ju-52 flying for Ju-Air in Switzerland, doing sightseeing and charter flights. The three frames were build 1939.
