On my first glance of this headline I comprehended "First Air of Canada Airbus A330..." and thought "that's quite a jump for First Air!

It takes a lot to make a plane as beautiful as the A330 look awful...but Air Canada has done it. :/

That looks so good! One of the best looking a330s I've seen. The cockpit paint makes it.

I can't believe how many people hate this livery.

people really find a bland tooth paste colored plane with a badly pixelated leaf that looks like it was made in MS paint circa 1995 more appealing?

The new livery is far more dapper and professional looking.

I guess it's like women, put two different bodies in the same dress and one suits it the other does not. For me it's a bit lacking on the A330.

Yep every airplane freak I know loves the new look too. The old blue pastey doesn't do anything for me.

Looks really good, but what's up with that paint around the cockpit windows!? That's the only part that looks horrible, maybe they'll realise it and stop that part eventually.

I can't really see all the hate for the cockpit mask. To me, it makes the new livery stand out amongst other airline liveries.

I like this!

In a strange way I think the cockpit windows painting is to be an abstract nod to the Canada goose!

The only thing I would have preferred would have been a red and white tail.

It's so black and white like the Titanic-it depends what image they have tried to convey. The unecessary mask makes it appear rather sneaky, however. And why is the red leaf under the windows? Because it won't stand well near the mask. Me thinks they have failed, looks like Nok Airlines without the beak. Anyway, it's their airline, not mine, well done,Air Canada!
(replying to HHScot): I agree, the red is beautifully "stamped" on the difficult L-1011 tail, like a DC-8!

My guess is that rondelle was moved for two main reasons. They made the font of the titles larger and then they would have had to make it larger too, but rather they just moved it down to where it is, a similar location to where the logo on TCA's livery was.

While I can see a slight likeness to Canada's Most Evil Creature, I recall reading that the cockpit mask was more homage to the Thunderbird on native totem poles.

Could someone enlighten this ignoramus. When did Air Canada lose that blueish-greyish livery? Is it gone? I really liked it. :-( It was especially nice on the fat 777s.

Very elegant and classy. Much better than the toothpaste and pixels livery. Excited for the 777 and hopefully the 767s

The raccoon mask looks nice. The rest of the livery looks very outdated. The older one is way better.

Yes livery looks retro, nice but doesn't suit Canada, would've preferred as a Delta update or new look for United with coloured tulip as from 1970s.

Still unsure of this livery, at this point I don't think I'll ever like it.

It's not just bland but awkwardly designed, the pointless black belly, positioning of the maple leaf on the tail and especially under the window line and the racoon eyes all make for a very unbalanced livery.

The old livery was simple but had enough finer detail to make unique and interesting to look at.

Your point is well taken. I think the fact that there are so many Eurowhite liveries means any livery that isn't white stands out, whether AC's old toothpaste green, WN's blue, or AA's bare metal or silver/gray paint.

Personally loved the green/grey livery better but it's not my airline. Hopefully it'll grown on me like it has with some of you guys. I just can't think of anything but the movie "Zorro" with Antonio Banderas with that black cockpit mask.

Put me on the list that dislikes the mask, at least from head on, and while I don't dislike the new livery I did prefer the toothpaste. To each his/her own.

The engines look tiny in that photo! Really dislike this livery, it's astounding to me that they chose this as a replacement, the boring typeface, small logo (made to fit the tail) and black colour remind me of something out of the 90s. Very uninspiring but I guess it's a matter of taste...

I concur with you both. I was shocked when AC revealed their new livery. The "toothpaste" livery was modern, stylish and very now, even 13 years on.

This one by contrast is so similar to their 90s look, the font excepted, and doesn't represent Canada in any way. In fact, it's just plain dull. That said, it doesn't actually look as bad on the A333 as other aircraft.

Its fake retro, as in a movie trying to recreate a period, but without getting the details right. It looks odd. The last livery was innovative design. This is just lazy. I'm sure the design firm does a good power lunch.

First pic in the database.

Seems like they didn't put the roundel on the engine this time like they do on the 787.
