Frontier didn’t bring back CMH-TPA this season.

Delta is bringing back seasonal, 1x week BOS-SRQ service during March and April of 2019. Delta really seems to have a knack for profitability and aircraft utilization in Florida.

If I'm not mistaken, DL hasn't flown this since about 1996.....it was twice a day on the weekend (Sa & Su)

I know they operated the route back in 2004. I used to fly it from Boston on Saturdays, and have to connect in ATL going back during the week. It was a 737-232 then.

The TPA-ATL route certainly is viable - the question will be if they can steal enough traffic from Southwest, Spirit, and Delta to make it profitable. (My guess would be too much competition). However, Frontier really doesn't seem to fear Southwest at TPA - so maybe they know something we don't.

And it appears that a descent amount of people travel between Tampa and Atlanta. Making the drive between Tampa and Atlanta can be brutal if you catch the worst traffic in Atlanta. As of more recently, there appear to be more people from Georgia who have moved to Tampa, and $150 RT or less round trip is worth avoiding the 6-8 hour drive if you want to visit friends and family for a few days.

AA from SRQ flew up to 18,000 ft when the windshield cracked and returned to SRQ yesterday. Not sure which PSA(AA) flight it was. What is interesting is that Rectrix changed out the windshield, I guess it’s good they had the parts for a CRJ business jets.

I for one would like to see SRQ grow, but for those of us who live outside of the Sarasota area the main reason I avoid it is the difficulty reaching it. My home is almost exactly half-way between SRQ and RSW, but the new exit off of I-75 makes it soooo much easier and faster to get into RSW. Average driving time there is roughly 15 minutes shorter than the trip to SRQ due to all the traffic and lights on University Parkway. That reason, and the fact that fares are usually more attractive out of Ft Myers, dictates I fly out of that airport the majority of the time.

SRQ was up 25.5% in August yoy, up 9% for the year
Probably will continue to grow 25%-30% rest of the year and then explode this December lol

Probably going to get heat from this but, I think SRQ-DTW is mediocre for the market size during the winter months. I think we can all agree that the summer months are low and can't sustain nonstop service, that's understandable. However, DL's off daily winter weekend only thing is becoming nothing less short of a complete joke. Seats are the same this winter. Last year it was an MD-88 that did about 2 weeks of flying before handing it off to the 717 for Saturday's only until March where the flight operated on Saturday only on the MD-88 again. This year is the same, only the A320 replaces the MD-88.

Fast forward to now, CLE has a twice weekly A321 that starts in early December and will likely run through the beginning of April. A market with less traffic, and slightly lower yields, flying basically over 70% more seats to SRQ than DTW. Now ATL is getting SRQ service, more traffic, but trashy yields.

It's not even SRQ, it's TPA too. There's 2 fish to fry for F9 alone from the FL gulf coast to DTW.

I'm a fanboy, DTW is my second home, bring on the heat.

Just saw something I have not seen yet at SRQ. An airliner take off from runway 4. That runway 4-22 is only 5,000 feet long, and I never knew that it was a possibility as SRQ was limited to 14-32 for airline operations. It was an AA flight 4469 to DC, aircraft E75S.

I did see the increase for BOS to SRQ, kinda surprised since they have tickets for around $250 rt still, is there enough demand? The same OAG post had in June or July JFK to SRQ at .4 per week down from 1, so will there be a cut there?

Also did read one article where Piccolo was pushing to get one international flight to SRQ from somewhere in the Caribbean, I think! Would be awesome if JetBlue would be the one.

I guess Swoop delayed all US bound flights. Unfortunately reasons why I will never do an inaugural flight and a trip report lol. I don’t take the risks.

Haha!!!! No not that far! Las Vegas, Denver or Chicago! I can fly to New York or Milwaukee thru KORD for $240-$280 round trip, but to KORD on the same same flights it’s $450-$500 round trip!!! And the AA flight addition did not help with lowering prices. Even if Frontier would enter Chicago just so the prices drop would be awesome.
