Can't believe LH got rid of the yellow color.

Now confirmed, picture also visible on LHs intranet eBase.

I also hear new uniforms will roll out later this year, to match the change.

Please don't let this be true. This is virtually an exact copy of the Airbus house livery. Beyond bizarre to see a 748i in these colors.

Absolutely dreadful. What a way to ruin a classy, timeless livery.

Looks like they'll be sending regular cheques to Mascot 2020.

Seriously though if this does turn out to be it. I'll be pretty disappointed. It's not quite MU bad but not good either.

Seems like its true. Already on the LH intranet.

Its too simple, far from original IMHO...too bland. Not to mention the loss of the yellow. Minimalism taken to an extreme, absolutely disappointing.

It raises the question, where the "font update" has gone. This looks exactly like the current font.

Nice, finally the yellow is gone. The white fuselage and the darker blue gives it a timeless elegance.

Nice to see the white engine nacelles. That dull grey always bothered me. About the yellow being gone I am not so sure yet if I like that.

I like it. Yes its simple, and albeit kind of boring, but it is also very business-like, and German.
Seems to me like a perfect rebrand for an airline like LH, as it all just looks professional.

It seems too Qantas in its simplicity, and I don’t really like it as much as the existing livery.

The current livery could have been kept with the change to the logo on the tail. I just don’t think it needed this approach but hey it’s their choice :)

Meh.

Things are pretty bad when Atlas Air has a better livery than one of the World's major legacy airlines.

It works, it’s classic Lufthansa in style but still somehow a little disappointing. The lack of yellow will take some getting used to and the simplicity of it is somewhat overdone, there’s nothing really worth discussing about it.

OK that is dull as all hell, but it's actually quite a good continuation of the LH brand. I like it, just not as much as the old one. I think people will like it soon enough, just like it happened with Qantas and Air Canada.

Perfectly nice update. Simple, elegant and nothing fussy. It will work perfectly for the brand image on the ground installations and printed materials. Let's face it the actually aircraft livery only accounts for about 5% of the public's perception of an airline...

i’m satisfied. my main concern was that helvetica would be ditched for a “trendier” font.

also no surprise that they put their best foot forward by debuting it on the beautiful 748i (assuming ausbt’s image was taken from LH’s intranet and not his/her own photoshop).

I hope Lufthansa did choose this to stand out, it will blend in with the sea of other Euro White liveries at the terminal.

Drats,EuroWhite claims another victim.

In the future some major airline is going to go back to cheat lines and its going praised on Anet as forward thinking.

What a disappointing downgrade. Lufthansa’s current look was classic and iconic. The new livery is just boring and unimaginative. I hope that it’s a short lived paint job because it isn’t anything special.

That's true. I've never liked the positioning of the Kranich on the A320 fleet.

As for the new livery itself - well, it's not a drastic change. Looks like Helvetica remains as the font, which is a huge relief. I imagine that it will look better on other aircraft types than it does on the 747-8 since the latter has a lot of white space. So too will the A380 for that matter.

I can't imagine a world without a yellow-less Lufthansa. When I worked for a vendor on their behalf, my favorite part of my uniform was the yellow tie. It was a perfect accent.

Is it just the angle? This picture, purportedly from the Lufthansa intranet site, shows the aircraft alongside the Lufthansa logo, which is clearly 'Helvetica'.

Wow so dissapointed. One of the most iconic and classic brands/liveries down the drain. Effortless and boring. I'm all for clean minimalism, but this is just pure laziness. I wanted so badly to be a fan (look at my handle name ;)) and had strong confidence LH would pull off this tricky change. Now they're just winning the race to the bottom.

Someone on the german forum linked above nailed it: "Joonhansa".

This is really disappointing. I'm sure the livery will grow on me, but it just looks so bland and uninspiring, and their old livery wasn't the best to begin with. Even a little yellow stripe along the tail would have gone a long way to make this livery at least somewhat unique.

Why would they get rid of the yellow? It's the most distinctive part of the LH brand.

Alright then - if it's similar, does the change have to do with licensing costs for Helvetica?
