As I said many posts ago, the LH livery is boring. The new LH livery is even more boring. Their font continuation is bizarre too - too stand offish and boring for anything past windows 95.

However, let’s wait and see how the plan to use the new concept elsewhere in the LH world? An end to grey and yellow seats perhaps?

I actually really dig what they've done with the tail. Especially how they kept a strip of white on the leading edge of it. Keeping some yellow somewhere would have been nice though. They could have mimicked the angle of the blue stripe on the engines or something.

If that strip you describe were yellow, that would have looked very nice. I'm also thinking that a light gray or light silver fuselage would have looked wonderful too.

They went from a plain livery that looks like an IKEA store to another plain livery. As some others have said, the tail looks classy and I like liveryes where the colour continues from the stabilizer down over the fuselage, but then you start looking forward of that at the rest of the plane and there’s no color whatsoever. It would have looked so much better if they had painted the engines blue. Look at the Rouge livery for example which is set up in a similar way, it would look a lot worse with white engines. I wonder what they’ll paint the winglets on planes that have them, hopefully not white like almost the entire rest of the plane!

I didn't think it was possible to make the LH livery even more boring. I like the crane graphic but they should've made it yellow.

Also not a fan of the extended tail. It works with QF and AA because their extension is not just 1 solid color.

United Charter 747 comes to mind!
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

I just asked someone who has no interest in airlines (in fact, couldn't tell a 737 from an A320) what they thought of it, and it was a hit. Thought it looked "very good". I think this will probably go down quite well in the eyes of the public at large.

It doesn't look too bad. It's more business like as others say, but it looks a little simple. Still not too bad but something I will have to get use to. To be honest, I think the painting process for the entire fleet could be a quick 3-4 years. Could be less since there's only about 229+ aircraft that will receive the new paint since majority of the A346 will be gone by 2018-2019, then we don't know if Lufthansa will be retiring the older A320s or not. Then we also have the 744s that will be gone by the next 5 years, plus if they are going to keep using the A343s or not in the long run since they are getting up to their age too.

No, it doesn't look bad and nice shade of blue. But its not distinctive either, and just like every other Euro White livery that depends on the tail for brand distinction.

Yellow just seems out of place with white and blue in my opinion. The plane looks much more elegant without it.

I just recently posted in the Icelandair livery thread (they also have white/blue/yellow) how I didn't like the yellow in their livery and wished they'd go back to their white and blue one... Lufthansa obviously had the same idea.

As opposed to the current LH livery which is....white/minimally grey, with the only true distinctive feature being the tail.

It is odd that they seem to drop the yellow/gold considering how prominent it's been in pretty much everything. Would be as if AF dropped red, or UA stopped using gold

And a little yellow on the tail would add the finishing touch to make this livery at least marginally interesting

https://www.thepetitionsite.com/de-de/7 ... ew-livery/ Let's make this big

Joon, Fedex and Atlas Air come spontaneously to my mind when i think of bluish extended tail-liverys. You can not see the crane on the blue from a bit away. Even with the current livery, you cant see the crane on the first view, but the yellow circle is drawing your attention. The crane comes more as a detail when you look closer.
Also it doesnt suit the aircraft that much to extend the tail livery to the fuselage. It becomes way to back-heavy. In my opinion the current livery is just the best.
Some say that the new livery helps shifting the planes between Lh Group Airlines. I dont really get that point because you still would have to paint the whole fuselage just like before dont you?

Yeah I think they do need a hint of yellow in there much the way Singapore Air uses the dash of orange. To me this isn't some massive shift in scheme and seems quite expensive for what it is. Quite frankly I was fine with the way it was as it's tasteful now, much in the same elk as Air China is.

Wow, look, an all-white fuselage! With white engines! And look at that, there's also some colour on the tail, and it's wrapped around the rear fuselage!! How cool, how original! Almost just as original as the many other airlines who did exactly the same years ago, like UTA, Qantas, American, Joon, Atlas, Airbus and Alitalia... :-(

Very bland and a big disappointment. Total lack of fantasy. It could only have been worse if the Helvetica font had been replaced.

Step in the right direction.

What if we continued that yellow line and ran it forward in a wavy fashion towards the nose, maybe with some blue accents, like United? And then put yellow cranes on the engines?

I kind of like the new hue of blue. I also like the modified crane logo.
The overall result is still a bit boring, especially as they didn't change the font, nor did they add that oft-suggested line of yellow at the vertical stabiliser's leading edge. That would have kept just a dash of much-needed colour while still being classy and subtle.
Ho-hum.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's not going to be as quick as that. LH said it'll take them roughly seven years to get all their planes painted in the new livery. (Source: https://www.morgenpost.de/wirtschaft/ar ... d-aus.html among others - sorry, German only).
I doubt any of their 744s or A346s are going to get the new livery. Some of the older A320s are pretty doubtful as well.

Basically a washed-out Malev livery without the colors (replaced with a Tarom tail).

As for the 744 or A346, be sure a few will be painted in the new livery as some will be due for a scheduled repaint in near future. At least 744s - the last 744s will fly until 2023, thats five years from now. Most won´t get the new livery, that is true. Also some MD-11Fs will be retired in old colours. As for older A320s, well it depends what you call "older". About 15 from 1990/91 are about to be retired this year, and of course none of them will be repainted.

The Qantas colour scheme has subtle details that make it different to this new LH scheme. Quite awful this new LH colour scheme. I imagine the retro LH plane will be repainted too...

BUT, the a.net mock ups are still better than what they just unveiled.

The new tail looks like shit....sigh. We will all get use to it in time, and it will look better on some of the smaller aircraft.

Suggestion: You guys should send in your mock ups to airlines, if used they pay you a fee or paint your name on an aircraft. Perhaps a thread is needed for this. BA should be soon.

I think it exudes a simple elegance, professional, clean, yet familiar. I'm sure that whoever was consulted to do this branding did their research thoroughly. You may also consider that the demographic that Lufthansa is trying to appeal to simply isn't you.

I hope that they haven't paid too much for this branding project. It's bland in the extreme. If the brief was to be staid and stolid, then it's achieved the goal. Personally I prefer some of the a.net suggestions even though I'm not sure about their fonts....

To add, that the Designer has been working at Lufthansa Brand Mgmt since 2001. Not a consultant designer or the like. He has some good reasons and explanations:

Some of the renderings show blue engines while others show white ones. I hope so much that the ones with the blue engines are correct :-)

It's bland and boring but so is the current livery! however, if it ain't an improvement, well, why bother with the change?

I really like that one. I think the blue engines are a must, much better than the all white. Also the one above with the silver crane and yellow line/blue engines is okay also.
The engines are currently grey, they're white only with rear mounted engines otherwise IIRC (except on the MD-11, where the number 2 engine is blue to match the tail).

I'm guessing this means that we'll have white wings on top and bottom? With the current scheme, the wings match the colour of the fuselage (grey on the bottom, white on top).
