Off topic but apparently the Rolls engine had a problem with all the sand in Dubai. The other engine was fine. Been told that QF were always changing engines on the A380 and are happy not to be flying into DXB anymore.

That and the whole blowing up thing :-)

The relationship with RR has gone south somewhat after the A380 incident plus QF A330 & B744ER Fleet are GE powered.

As are the JQ B788s, so an obvious choice to go GenX for the QF fleet also.

True, however QF had the option to go RR with their JQ B788’s. From what I’ve heard their not happy with the RR A380 performance.

Not for a very long time.

To expand on the unhappy-ness of QF with the RR power plants, the QF RR engines on the A380's (and even though they are leased as pay per hour engines) require QF to change them twice as often as per the manufacturers original estimates.

I've had information to confirm that a lot of operational areas are also very happy with the reroute of the flights into SIN.
One group of people that aren't happy are the QF based staff at Changi. Bigger planes, more passengers, more stress to get the flight out on time :P

There’s a dedicated repaint discussion created by qf789 and informative list of aircraft in current, 07, 84 livery.
