New colours for UTair Aviation Russia

Mon Oct 30, 2017 4:36 pm

Well I have to say that this must be one of the worst new liveries EVER!

What where they thinking?

I see nothing wrong.

Boring, typical, standard Eurowhite. The new normal.

Dang that's pretty ugly; it looks like it was thrown together on MS Paint in 30 seconds. I actually liked the font on the old livery and the 'UT' logo on the tail.

That "design" must have taken several agonizing seconds to conjure up.

Why didn't they capitalize the T in the title either? Now it looks like their name is one word "utair" and not "UT-air".

I agree, bad livery but nothing surprising as this is what the world is coming to....
Airports: BOS, JAX, JFK, EWR, LGA, CVG, ATL, CLT, DCA, IAD, STT, PVD, ALB, MCO
Aircraft: 733, 735, 73G, 738, 752, 717, A319, A320, MD-88, E190, E175, E145, CRJ-200, CRJ-700, Q400
Airlines: B6, CO, DL, US, NW, WN, DH
...a good start but a long way to go!

It looks like it reads Utair, pronounced "Ootair". Not that UTair doesn't already sound like it plays off of UTI...

I don't think it's finished yet. They still need to paint the doors lime green.
Keep on truckin'...

Looks like they were buying design time in 15 minute increments.

As long as its "oot" of my field of vision I don't care.

Yeah that’s dull. Design of the stylised “U” and the font aren’t so bad though. It’s just the overall blandness, with so much white. Maybe they should’ve had a blue tail with the stylised “U” in white fading in-out...

.. What livery? There's absolutely nothing there. Another one.

Airlines seem to be in a race for the "blandest" title .. while calling it "clean". No.

New colours, new colours, don't go so fast. Lets see Lots of white and some dark blue, quite different from what they had until now. As for livery, well, this is nowhere near to be considered as a livery. Even my dictionary says that: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/livery

Exactly. At best it looks like one of those 737BBJ.

Very "Ted" of them, but even less inspiring.

There is no official information from UTair about any changes of liveries or their corporate identity. However, it is clear that this public nuisance had really been physically comitted at the Ostrava, Czechia outlet of Eirtech Aviation.

Short lease livery. Easy to change to whatever the lessor requires when they go back.

Long leases are normally the ones where airlines indulge themselves. This rather horrible livery is simple and could be changed quickly, and at lower cost.

Designer 1: So the airline is "UTAir" what letter should the tail have on it?
Designer 2: How about a "J"?

So I'm guessing they will be rebranding. They blanked out all of their logos on their social media profiles and posted a teaser video that just says "31.10.17"

If that's all this is then why the change in font?

I actually like it. I like the font and the blue. Sure it is not a work of art, but those days have since sailed. It is pretty on the money modern.

Looks like an edited pic. This can't be an actual airline livery, right?!

Simply awful. What else can I say?
The previous livery, while also very Eurowhitey, was much better than this.

And I agree about the capital T.
It was UTair before, not it's Utair... weird!

"Youtee air" is now "Youtair" then?
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

* Hi, are you the guy that is responsible for our corporate identity?
# Yes!
* I'm your chef, I need a new logo for our airline, how long is it going to take?
# Well, I just have to start my windows 95 computer and paint, and in 30 minutes it's done!
* I need it in 15 minutes!
# You'll get it in 5!
* Great!

5 minutes later:

* Why is the U in Utair a capital letter?
# I can't turn off the autocorrection on my open office.
* so there is nothing we can do - ok, it's good, I like it!

no for real: this by far is the coolest logo out there. I like tha fact that it gives a sh*t about everything you seem to have known. And I like that kind of attitude, it definitly adds something to our hobby.

The reality is, this is a real tangible livery. The airline is not an extravagant full service carrier. People's preference for the livery does nothing to impact the bottom line. This is far closer to the norm in 2017 than the other end of the spectrum.
