2017-2018 NHL Charter Flight Numbers

Mon Nov 06, 2017 7:10 pm

Since we have threads for the NFL and NBA, here's a similar thread for the NHL.

This is a somewhat incomplete list, but here are the flight numbers that I've scrounged up for the 2017-2018 NHL season:

Anaheim Ducks: DAL8946
Arizona Coyotes: PMM758
Boston Bruins: SWQ2114*
Buffalo Sabres: DAL8947
Calgary Flames: ACA7035/7036**
Carolina Hurricanes: SWQ2218*
Chicago Blackhawks: SWQ2520*
Colorado Avalanche: UNKNOWN (Apparently used ACA last season; haven't found anything for this season yet)
Columbus Blue Jackets: SWQ2422*
Dallas Stars: UNKNOWN
Detroit Red Wings: N682WR (Not Trackable)
Edmonton Oilers: ACA7039/7040**
Florida Panthers: UNKNOWN (Believed to be BSK, but haven't confirmed any recent flights)
Los Angeles Kings: DAL8948
Minnesota Wild: DAL8949
Montreal Canadiens: ACA7041/7042**
Nashville Predators: SWQ2715*
New Jersey Devils: UNKNOWN (I believe they used BSK last year, but haven't confirmed this year's flights yet)
New York Islanders: UNKNOWN
New York Rangers: DAL8950
Ottawa Senators: ACA7047/7048**
Philadelphia Flyers: DAL8951
Pittsburgh Penguins: BSK392
San Jose Sharks: UNKNOWN
St. Louis Blues: SWQ2323*
Tampa Bay Lightning: UNKNOWN
Toronto Maple Leafs: ACA7045/7046**
Vancouver Canucks: ACA7037/7038**
Vegas Golden Knights: UNKNOWN
Washington Capitals: DAL8952
Winnipeg Jets: ACA7017/7018**

NOTES:
(*) SWQ (Swift Air) numbers charter flights sequentially in the same series; flight number listed is the most recent which I was able to confirm.
(**) ACA (Air Canada) has a contract with the NHL to provide charter flights for the seven Canadian teams (similar to the NBA/DAL deal). All ACA NHL related flights have been using A319s.

Also worth noting that the NHL teams which charter with DAL (except for Anaheim and Buffalo) share an arena with an NBA team, so it's possible that those particular charters are being coordinated with the NBA teams or in some other fashion. I'm guessing that's the case because all of the NHL related DAL charters are using B752s.
2019: DAL, MCI, PHX, LAS, DFW, SAT, ORD, SLC, SEA, DTW, PHL, MIA, LAX; B73G (WN x3), B738 (WN, AA, DL), A20N (NK), MD83 (AA), B788 (AA x2), CS1 (DL), B739 (DL), B712 (DL), B752 (AA), B763 (AA), B77W (AA), B789 (AA)

Thanks for composing the list.

For the Florida Panthers, when Swift took over Eastern, the press release stated that the Panthers would be one of their clients. Hopefully that means on one of the EAL branded 738s.

I believe Vegas has been using Swift Air. On their current road trip I've seen their travel videos on Facebook and it seems like the usual Swift Air 734.

I'm also curious about the Florida Panthers. They used EAL last year but they're gone now, so who are they using?

If I were the pilot of any of those NFL charters, you can be sure I would be playing The Star Spangled Banner during the seat belt announcement. Maybe even during take off too. And landing. And turbulence.

As of 1530 EST 11/6, still looking for San Jose Sharks charter flight info. I know they used a third-party (Pinnacle, I think), but I may have to wait a while since they haven't had a road game in a few weeks.

Also, Dallas Stars chartering on a B762 - N767MW

The San Jose Sharks fly with OAK/STS-based KaiserAir on a conveniently colour-matched 737-500. Flight number is almost always Kaiser 525.

Edmonton Oilers arrived at EWR for tomorrow's Islanders game on an AC A319, calling as AC7039.

The Vegas Golden Knights are currently on the road with Swift Air's B737-400 N801TJ. The aircraft is doing different jobs in between Golden Knights flights though ...

Indeed, that flight matches their Pittsburgh game perfectly. They then flew on to Newark as AC7016 before the aircraft went on duty for another team ...

The Stars don't have a regular flight number because they have a split charter contract. When available, the Stars use N767MW, which is owned by Mark Cuban and priority is given to the Mavericks. Cuban also owns a 757, N801DM. When they don't use one of Cuban's planes, they typically fly SwiftAir.

Don't the Texas Rangers also have an agreement with MLW for charter services as well?

Apparently, FlightRadar24.com identified the Stars' flight as GTI7708, for what that's worth.
