According to Flightradar it seems that Lufthansa is starting to use the newer 748 to Seattle, Is this just a temporary scheduling situation, or is SEA to get 748's on a more regular bases?
It would be interesting to see the A346 come in as well, like they do to YVR from Munich.

Due to the Air Berlin coverage, there has been a lot of short term capacity shifting to make up for the 747’s that are displaced. Also worth noting, YVR-MUC is A333, not A346.

It's going to be the 748 thru December at least. Saw it depart yesterday, first 748i service to SEA. We get KE, CV, RU freighters but LH is the first, and I am sure only passenger 748 we'll see. So it's a real treat

YVR-MUC is actually a mix of both types.

Incorrect. It formerly was, it is no longer.

What did they use before the 748?

Also a good thing to know: as First class is not bookable on the route, you can purchase a J ticket and select a F class seat.

The 747-400 since ~2013, and before that, the A343 and A333.

So you get a First class seat at the price of a Business class?

Yes but just the seat, service will be J.
Also, even though you can select a F seat during your booking, they MIGHT take your seat away to give to a LH Senator or HON member before the flight.

You're probably right, but I am 100% sure I've seen LH346's coming into YVR. Very easy to spot planes landing at YVR when the approach is towards the West. They come in low over Richmond and several highways.

They have operated into YVR In the past, both from FRA amd MUC, and still rarely do as equipment swaps on a one off basis. There are definitely chances to see them on occasion, just not scheduled.

It was A333 until 2014ish IIRC, then it went A343, and late March/early April 2015 it went 744.

Yup LH490 and 491. Daily 747's.
At about the same time a similar 747 flies into and out of YVR, just 2 1/2 hours north.

I hope the 748 keeps coming. Always nice to see these birds come "home" to Seattle.

Looking on Youtube finds a one off of the 748 coming to Seattle where First seats and service were sold.

I know Condor launched MUC-SEA, how is that route performing? I wonder why Lufthansa didn't launch MUC-SEA instead.

Going to try and take advantage of a rare day off on Friday and get some photos of her on approach for landing. There's a 1 in 19 chance it'll be the retro livery one, so crossing my fingers, but not counting on it.
LH is also sending in an MD-11 freighter to SEA on Fridays and Sundays this month so may try for an LH two-fer

I doubt it did too terribly. It actually started on June 21, and was supposed to start on July 5. Unfortunately though, DE is closing their MUC longhaul base, so MUC-SEA is ending, although it probably did fine. This does leave the door wide open for LH to start MUC-SEA, although I don't think they will, because their daily 744 to FRA isn't doing too well in the off-season, so they should probably work on trying to fill the existing flight first.
