It looks like the FR pilots across europe took the momentum of the staffing issues at FR and bring their relationship with MoL/FR to the next level.
Italien Union ANPAC announced a 4 hour strike on Dec. 15th.

Italy’s ANPAC, which said it represents 280 of Ryanair’s approximately 4,000 pilots - and 40 percent of those based in Italy - said Ryanair pilots and cabin crew would not work between 1400 and 1800 GMT on Dec. 15.

VC announced today industrial actions @ Ryanair. They didn't mention a specific date, in their press announcement they used the term "any time from now " no industrial actions will happen from Dec. 23rd. - Dec 26th.

Nice way to try and work with your pilots - threaten them. Its about time the chickens came home to roost in regards to their employee practices. I believe other countries are also planning strikes.

Unfortunate that's the "FR way" to deal with their most valuable assets. Management by pressure and fear, divide an conquer.....

Pilots were a dime a dozen through the 80's 90's and 00's. The financial crisis prolonged the glut and management took it as the 'new normal'. As baby boomers retire and training costs continue to increase, we are moving back into a 50's-60's-70's style labor market.

Norwegian pillaging FR's ranks like a viking earlier this year was just the beginning.

Yepp, they are screwed and not only the pilots. Because of the devide and conquer game FR is playing with them.
If the direct employees don't accept the T&C's, the contractors won't get any payrise (recently happend in STN).
Forced leave, working for a certain time in another country and FR won't pay relocation, hotel and meals...... The list goes on.

I hope that the pilots take their momentum and stick together. At the end of the day it's now or never.

Well, Ryanair has had this coming for awhile. While I've never flown them, I have worked as a union site rep in my own field. The actions that Ryanair has taken over the years are earily familiar to how my employer treated us, and it did result in a strike. It wasn't so much about pay, although that was one of several factors, but rather more about the treatment, the disdain that management felt for the average worker, lack of respect, etc. Whenever I read about Ryanair, I tend to see the same attitudes and opinions from their management.

For everyone who often bashes unions, remember, unions usually don't form as long as the owner is treating the worker halfway decently. They tend to form when there allegations (real or imagined) of unfairness and contempt. Yes, money is a factor - it always is. However, there are also other issues commonly at play. I tend to think that FR may well have a real problem on its hands here. Time to rock and roll.

Good. Ryanair treats their "employees" terribly with no respect whatsoever. I hope the strike hurts them. The airline industry is a people business - their biggest competitor knows this yet MOL seems steadfast in trying to to learn that.

UA used to have overseas FA crew bases in SIN and BKK who were not represented by the AFA. They got shafted twice, once after 9/11 and then in the financial crisis in 2007/8 - where they were all laid off (TWICE). FA crew bases in HKG/NRT/LHR/FRA all belonged to the AFA union so SIN and BKK FA bases got booted first before any AFA member. Regardless, I don't think the US Government would allow any of the US3's workers, unionized or not, to strike. They are just too big now. AA and DL I cannot talk to. pmUA and pmCO FA groups are finally merging into one work group with consistent rules and cross-fleeting at last - more than 5 years after the merger!
