I just saw that in the other thread I mentioned but no press release. It’s supposed to be daily with a A359.

So coming back to my post in the other thread, what is the point of having 10 carriers in Paris-NYC but nobody tries secondary cities like Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux or Toulouse?
Carriers like French Bee, XL Airways, etc. are very well suited for those markets (mainly leisure summer traffic).
Thibault973 wrote:XL did flew MRS-JFK but stopped citing shortage of aircraft (they also flew MRS-PUJ, also dropped). DL tried LYS-JFK on the 757 but it didn't last long either.

From what I see online, DL dropped JFK-LYS in 2001 (!) https://www.lesechos.fr/2001/05/delta-a ... ork-717763. That was ages ago.
Marseille might be harder to make it work because it is a lower-yielding market than Lyon (at least from the French side).
Thibault973 wrote:From what I understand the pbm with LYS is that you have GVA just a few block away. Same with MRS and NCE which is not too far away and serves both the French and the Italian rivieras. Then you have BOD which is a pretty hot destination rn and would make sense seasonally at least maybe with the 321z

It may look close on a map but it takes almost 3 hours by car to reach GVA from Lyon center. By transport it's more than double the time. If you need to catch a connection from Lyon you're better off taking the TGV to CDG (2 hours). If there is no LYS-USA routes it's because there's not enough demand.

I do the trip very often, takes 1:45, not 3 hours. However, even with this relatively short travel, limited ppl from Lyon go to GVA. I don’t think that the limited number of long-hauls in LYS has much to do with GVA, agree with the previous conclusions.
There were three previous attempts for a LYS-JFK flight over the last 20 years, twice with DL and once with AA. Last attempt was with DL in 2008. The market might be more mature now but AC has taken some market share.

AF has just announced ORY-GVA for the winter season

With 610K inhabitants, Montpelier is the 14th urban area in France and is in fact the fastest growing. None of the routes announced will cater to inbound tourists but rather to Montpelliérains going south on vacations.

It's nice to see more non sun-bound destinations at ORY.
