Teruel: I think I just saw an Airbus land for the last time.....

Thu Dec 21, 2017 4:06 pm

Well, hear me out:

I happened to pass the Teruel area on the 7th of December and obviously, I did the extra D-tour to get to the nitty-gritty of European aircraft retirement.
Made it all the way to the (tiny) pax terminal.

As a security officer politely asked me to delete my pics and get rid of my camera, I noticed an Etihad coming in rather low.
The pilots appeared to be enjoying the jaunt, as this huge airliner was way lower than a normal (commercial) approach to any runway would be.
They did a low 270-degree spin all around the airport and finally put her down on in Southerly direction (Runway 17, I am guessing).

As I was making my way away from the security guards (before they would notice I hadn`t deleted my pics at all), I could not see the Etihad from close by.
It was an A340, not sure it was an A345 or A346, I simply could not drive and notice these details as the sun was rather low.....and I was not close to the aircraft at all.

Please, which aircraft did I just see retiring from Arabian service?
Will she ever fly again?

Cheers!

Aircraft was an Airbus A340-600 registration A6-EHH

https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/ ... ys/YgZnHgP

Flown to TEV as EY9014

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/a6-ehh

Personally i don't think it will fly again unless an airline such us AZAL or Mahan Air acquire it . VIP jet is another option but unlikely tbh

10.1 years old...sort of a waste for that short of a service life.

It can be parted out to support A330's that are still flying. With 787's, 777X's, and A350's, A340's are no longer economically viable.

They are very strict!
Polite....but strict.
