Looks like the front landing gear is locked at an angle during landing.

Since the aircraft is usually used for ferrying head of state, pretty sure they will fix it.

The Azman Air A340-600 will replace the leased A330-200 they have that is from Egypt Air

Thanks for the information. If I recall correctly, the A332 was ex-Emirates, now heading to Onur Air.

Those Emirates A332 really comes in handy now. Airlines are clamouring over them. Are there anyone else offloading their A330 fleet in bucket load amount? SQ is doing it as more 787-10 gets delivered. Two were delivered in space of 2 days last week.

Im quite sure that the picture is of it having a rejected take off at Istanbul. The Iranian government has its own A340, EP-DAA, MSN257. The government have no need for the aircraft. Will be a shame to see it retired.

I think you're mistaking it for EP-AJA which is now EP-DAA and operated for the Islamic Republic.

I suspect further scrapping will be put on hold pending the final Airbus/Iran decision.

She is currently being listed for sell/lease. However the new owner is AerSale, a well-known parts recovery company based in Florida. Hence, high chance B-18803 will be scrapped.

Does anybody know which TG A340s are at DMK v UTP? I saw at least 1 parked at DMK the other day but couldn't make out if it was a 345 or 346. Also, is a 345 still being used for government / military transport?

Thank you very much for that info.

I really wonder what will become of them... Sold one by one or all together for dirt cheap (with selling for cheap being a no no at TG)? Go to Iran? Scrapped? I'd love TG to bring them back on the 744 routes as the 744s leave... Such a sad life for these birds atm...

Somehow I have a feeling they may end up in Iran after exchanging two or three shady owners. TG most likely interested in offloading all together, to avoid further headache. They could have negotiate with Airbus to take them back for A350 deal, but not sure why they didn't do it. Even if B744 are retired, A340 won't see return to service as the airline is moving to twin engines with exception of A380, no ULR route too.

We have heard in the other thread that the Lufthansa Alpha-India-Fox-Alpha is being written off.

It appears HiFly has flown her since 2005, so perhaps they are familiar with the frame. With the wide body need due to RR issues, perhaps this old Pratt powered bird has another summer season in her yet.

D-AIFA is out of service and parked at FRA.

Most probably to be stripped (landing gears, engines, APU, systems) and scrapped when investigation / insurance paperwork has been completed.

Oh, wait...

It’s a wonderfully beautiful and graceful airplane. Note to airlines: we prefer this airplane to a 3x3x3 787 anyday. I’ll even pay more to fly on it.

At this point in the calendar, the 'tide has gone out' and grounded frames are at their nadir. This gives a rare opportunity to evaluate sub-fleets as they brush with or enter retirement.
The focus of this study is the A330-200; tables in the first post and a second post for commentary. (if there is a method to post tables pls consider sending me instructions or a link via pm)

postulation.July4th is the nadir in annual commercial passenger aircraft storage
postulation.Nov1st is the zenith in annual commercial passenger aircraft storage
data.70 operator transitions; 60 to new operators, 10 parked returns to lessors, 4 parent --> subsidiary movements
data.Vietnam, Air Europa, EVA, AirCalin…. are planning to lease return their A332 fleets
hypothesis: The secondary leasing market for the A332 is robust. The secondary sales market may be tilted toward a supply imbalance.
hypothesis: Operator motivation factors include availability and commitment dynamics as well as price.
question ?466, 472, 700 (ex-TAM, GE powered frames) appear to be related to CDB, & GECAS. Are these being consolidated for MX at the MEX airport as a precuser forSale?
question ?Are certain airlines considered toxic? IE once a frame has been leased to 3rd.world.random.airline, the majors will not touch the risk? Could they be recertified by Airbus?

Delivered.A332P for commercial use (+re-purposed active MRTT2P) 586
- 'beverage cans & junk yard dogs' 20 3.41%
- Frames.passenger 're-purposed' [P2F(2), MRTT(2), VIP(2)] 6
- Aircraft.damaged; 'esoteric maintenance activity' 3
A332P.available.stored 12 2.05%
A332P.committed/due/planned 11
- A332P.available lift that is stored 23 4.13%
A332P active in commercial use 534 91.13%

Delivered.A332 to Governments; Executive and private Jets 51
~ Delivered(2AB military).MRTT 42
Delivered.P2MRTT 1
~ Delivered.VIP 8
- Frames.MRTT re-purposed to passenger 4
Delivered.A332F 38

A330-200 (P,MRTT,F,VIP) operator transitions over the last 12 calendar months 70 10.43%

Prognostications:
Leasing companies appear to be tilting toward part-out at the 18.5year maintenance point.
A332P 'parked-available-lift' will materially increase, operator transitions will remain active

Updates as at 6th July 2018:
Airbus A330-243 MSN 735 M-ABLK Aerotron ferried 03-04 July 2018 HKG-CWL-DGX, all white ex B-6123
Airbus A330-243 MSN 525 TC-OCO Onur Air delivery 02-03 July 2018 MZJ-BGR-AMM, OE-reg ex OE-IER
Airbus A340-212 MSN 046 V8-001 Government of Brunei ferried 01/05 July 2018 BWN-HAM-ZRH-LDE, neutralized at HAM, for sale ex V8-BKH
Airbus A340-313 MSN 257 EP-IGA Iran Government re-regd in svc 02 July 2018 THR-ZRH ex EP-DAA
Source: Skyliner-aviation.de

Truly sad that the Brunei Government A340-212 is retired from the Sultan's fleet. I used to see her flying over my house frequently back during my days in Brunei. She was one of the three A340 which used to operated by Brunei Royal Family. A fourth A340-200, the world's one and only A340-8000 (MSN 204) was developed specially for them but never took delivery.

A340-212 MSN 009 Lufthansa > Brunei Government > The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan > Sky Prime Active
A340-212 MSN 046 Bahrain Royal Flight > Brunei Government Stored
A340-213 MSN 151 Brunei Government > Kingdom Holding Company> Afriqiyah Airways> Libya Government Stored
A340-213X MSN 204 Airbus Industrie > Brunei Government > Saudi Arabian Government Active

Trivia: MSN 009, 046 and 151 were ordered by Prince Jefri Bolkiah, the disgraced younger brother of current Sultan. His extravagant lifestyle almost bankrupt the country. Not only he bought a fleet of A340, few G-V were also purchased. As part of asset recovery, MSN 009 and 151 and sole B747SP were confiscated and sold off to pay off creditors.

The A342 was a ULR before ULR designation was ever invented ;-)
Hopefully she will fly again. I see her well as Canada's AF1!

Update 9th July 2018:
The sixth A330-243 of Fiji Airways is now confirmed. ex-Air Seychelles S7-ADM/ Jet Airways VT-JWE/Etihad A6-EYZ, delivered 26. Jun 2018. Christened as "The Island of Vatulele" Registration DQ-FJP. Configuration is 18J/ 233Y. This is second ex-EY A332 inducted in FJ's fleet, first being DQ-FJO.

http://www.aviationwire.jp/archives/150559

Not sure how will they manage the expectation of their J passengers, because the J cabin of -FJO and FJP are vastly differently to those on -FJT, -FJU and -FJV

I don't think it's too different given 1) they're both in 2-2-2 layout and 2) the seats can apparently fully recline when their current seats can't (175 degrees or something close). IFE maybe, but the seat itself isn't so bad.
