if its wheels were chocked as they should have been how could this possibly happen unless some 'unofficial' chocks were used maybe

Oh well I'll just go buy another one.

At least the building is of questionable quality so the damage should not be too bad.

It is actually amazing they haven't closed the road to all traffic.

But I guess that is the Maltese way...

Anyway the plane will be repaired in Lufthansa Technik in Malta my guess is (rumors say that it was stationed on the isle for that reason anyway) and will be flying again very shortly, I hope.

Why is this type of info relevant to the story of a plane rolling into a building?

Wow. Shows how tough Dassault builds Falcons! The nose of the aircraft looks much less damaged than one would expect.

I'm sure that he was visiting Malta for 100% legitimate reasons that had nothing to do with offshore shell companies, tax structures etc.....

It appears plane rolled and gained speed before it took down a fence and punched a hole in the wall.

Glad no one got injured.

Why would it matter to this story though? Would it be any less of a story if the a/c belonged to a humanitarian organization?

Can chocks be "jumped" if strong winds lift the aircraft, or are they usually attached to the wheels ?

If it was the Orbis MD10 or the Samaritans Purse DC8, the result could be real hardship.

I expect that Lord Ashcroft will cope somehow.

I think it was more the structure quality rather than how they build Dassaults :)

[/offtopic mode on] Malta airport seems to be having constant dramas the past few days...on Xmas day they had a boar invading the road outside the terminal :) https://www.facebook.com/the1mdt/posts/2075863762425562 [/offtopic mode off]

Chocks can be jumped. Apparently very strong winds were in the forecast - typically in this case the aircraft is tied down.

Why the heck are you so upset about someone posting who the aircraft belongs to? It’s a private aircraft why wouldn’t we be curious who it belongs to? Ok so next time there is an accident involving a commercial passenger aircraft we will be sure to not state what airline it was....because it’s not relevant information right?

Comparing apples to oranges, aren't we?? I never said nor indicated that I was "upset". Just genuinely curious. "Plane hits building" - that's news. The rest of it, not so much.

Before I knew the owner (thanks for that info) I was thinking this could have been an insurance scam. Loving the "remove before flight" tag covered in dust.

I've seen a plane get blown sideways out of the chocks (admittedly on an icy tarmac). And if the winds are strong enough, it is possible to jump the chocks.

Not so much for you maybe, but there are others who may be interested. As with any news story that is reported, one can ignore what you don't feel is important. There are typically extraneous facts reported with any news story, such as the ANA flight to Tokyo that recently turned around and landed back at LAX, which reported to have John Legend on board

If a humanitarian organisation was flying its leaders around Europe in an expensive Dassault 7X, then yes I would 100% have a problem with that and with their general stewardship of finances. Especially if I was a donor.
