FWIW~ They’re sending a 739 (N307AS) in legacy livery to VCV today for paint, and A21N N924VA (Giants) is on the board for the VCV swapout tomorrow with N286VA.

Should be Standard Livery. Most West Coast is scheduled for Standard Livery in May.

All Virgin Livery aircraft should be painted in Standard Alaska Livery by early summer. Not sure how long the "More To Love" aircraft will keep that paint scheme.

Flew my first new 73G interior the other day. A great job of refreshing what previously was looking like a very tired aircraft. Hope the A320 interiors are as successful.

As far as I know, every aircraft currently in the fleet is eventually scheduled to get the update, including -800s and -900As. The bigger 737s will presumably get it last as they got the previous refresh pretty recently (or were delivered with it, in the case of most -900ERs).

What was the point again of putting N924VA in that ugly white tail livery again? Every photo I could find of it, still had it with the Alaska logo on it, so why didn't they just paint it into the main livery?

It is in mainline livery now, since it came out of VCV on Saturday. The pic on jetphotos in mainline livery is actually the first and only pic so far of 924 in the new livery.

Airbus is VERY SLOW with paint scheme changes. Their paint shop requires long lead times.
924 was the first plane delivered after the merger; so Alaska had it delivered in all-white, and then just slapped some stuff on it to make it a "special livery."
It beats having it painted in the full VX scheme and then having to redo that, rather than all white with some trimmings (which could, actually, have been decals, but I don't know).

Airbus was the same way with the AA/US merger. They delivered several A321's in the US scheme for months after the merger went through, as I recall.

The goal is to standardize across the fleet; it's just that they need to get the formal business case approved during the budgeting process, that's all. And that may have already been done.

I wasn't as clear as I should've been. I thought it might've been delivered in a white livery with the Virgin America logo/name, then switched over to having the Alaska name on it at some point.

That makes sense, thank you for clearing that up. I'm guessing they also needed it on the line flying so they didn't have time to take it out and paint it into the full Alaska livery until now.

Too bad they are getting rid of the Most West Coast livery rather than just adding titles and Chester. Same with the Giants theme plane.

Not odd at all.
All of the major carriers have pretty substantial differences across various fleet types. I mean, Delta has just recently gotten their 757-200 fleet down to, I think, FOUR different products.
The A321s have new pivot bins, the rest of the DL Airbus fleet didn't get those in the refit.

So Alaska having a SLIGHTLY different seat between 73G/32X and 738/739 is hardly even a factor.
Never mind the millions upon millions of dollars spent to swap out the first class seats and overhaul the coach benches to add.....a tablet clip.

There were decals and were planned to only wear them for a year or so.

N636VA is boarding at CMH right now and to my surprise she looks rough already! Peeling paint, flag decals nearly gone, you’d never guess it was a fresh coat of paint. The AS livery looks great in nearly any condition but I hope the impressive speed of repainting hasn’t come at the expense of quality.

N636VA is actually scheduled to go back to VCV this morning for repaint as the swap-out ship for N921VA. I wonder if AS reads these posts?

Ha! While I would love to think my Anet post caused an A320 to get a fresh coat of paint, I can’t be the only one to have noticed her condition given the short time in the new colors. Warranty repaint perhaps?
