You are correct it is a huge investment of personnel, time, resources and money, but now is the time to do it when the schedule allows for 4 PW 77E's to be out of service at once and still have enough frames and spares to run the winter schedule. Once March or April rolls around I wouldn't be surprised if 4 lines is reduced to 3 then 2 lines in May till September or October 2019. UA has set an ambitious schedule and in two years from today the Polaris conversions should be done and we haven't even started on the 764s or 788/9s. The more lines UA runs at XMN and HKG during the winter season the more it helps UA keep this project on schedule.

IIRC, the 739s had KA band WiFi and the 739Max aircraft changed to something else - so I'd guess that the 39Ms are KU band. I'll try to get an answer from one old comrades.

The Max9's use ViaSat which is a Ka system I believe.

753:
N57870 sked to exit SAT 737/31Dec with slimline seats
This confirms SAT is doing slimlines and N74856 will get slimlines.
Result is all in service 753s now have slimlines with last 3 non-slimlines in mod.
