Any News about the CAAC certification ? Again the question, any idea if there's a customer for MSN2 and 4. These frames should be sold, right ?

A350 traveled work reached a record low in 2017:

The A350 program has performed better than expected during 2017. Production is running smoothly with traveled work at a record low-level, almost on the level of the A330 Final Assembly Line.

Ramp to 10 per month is secured for the end of the year and the program now plans with cash positive deliveries beginning end 2019.

So the A350s that have been been delivered are -941 variants but the first A350 for JAL will be a -942. Whats the difference? Higher power engines? Higher MTOW?

I asked the question some time ago. It seemed a general consensus, that it will actually be opposite - low MTOW and low thrust version. Could be for example 240t, 76klbs thrust version. But to confirm, we'll probably need until it's being built/completed and delivered.

Cheers,

I thought the different weight variants were basically paper variants and could be changed easily if requirements change. A different model number implies more substantial changes.

The difference between an A350-841 and -842 is a different engine variant. It can be a higher thrust or lower thrust or something else different.

A lower MTOW would be a paper derate.

AY brings their A350 deliveries forward a little bit.

Finnair has decided to reschedule the delivery of one A350 aircraft from 2023 to 2019, which means that the remaining eight A350s will be delivered to Finnair between 2018–2022.

Could be the Trent XWB-84EP, however I thought SQ were going to be the first to get them.

Seems more a PIP than a new thrust variant, IIRC the changes in Airbus subtypes usually go with thrust changes but who knows, maybe theres significant hardware changes.

The EP does incorporate advances from the Trent XWB-97 and Advance programs, but this PiP might be one that cannot be retrofitted to prior Trent XWB-84 engines so it warrants a new subtype designation? So A350-941 would be an A350 with Trent XWB-84 and A350-942 would be an A350 with Trent XWB-84EP?

As RR notes you can hang both engines off the same airframe, maybe we will see an A350-943 for an A350 with one Trent XWB-84 and one Trent XWB-84EP. :silly:

But that would also mean an Airline gets the upgraded engine and hangs them from a 941 and it becomes a 942. Wouldn't that require an awful lot of paperwork changes?

If there are, there would be a process in place to handle it. Did any A340-300 series operator upgrade their CFM56-5C series engines and did that require the frame to be re-designated from one version (-311 / -312) to another (-312 / -313)?

And if an airline gets the upgrade under an RR TotalCare contract, perhaps RR would handle any paperwork updates required?

How come that photos like those are allowed to take, let alone they go public!!!??
On all my visits to AB (guided tours in TLS & XFW) photography within the whole area was a strictly forbidden (not only inside the hangars...). We were asked to keep even smartphones in our pockets! Violation would have resulted in aborting the tour immediately, so we were told....
This is your pilot speaking. Welcome to flight one from here to there. We'll be flying at a height of ten feet, going up to twelve and a half feet if we see anything big. My copilot today is a flask of coffee.
