That RAT seems to be putting in a lot of RPMs even during the turn and low speed taxiing.

I presume there was no load on the generator so it was just turning freely.

Re the QR engine changes, I suspect that a close look back at the A330 or Single Aisle deliveries would turn up an above average number of engine changes during the flight test/acceptance process. Its more like an airline policy issue than a problem with a specific engine type. Would it be such a surprise if QR turned out to be the most demanding customer when it comes to engines as well as airframes and cabins?

QR require delivery with new engines. Other than the second acceptance flight, when QR engines are fitted, prior testing is usually completed using RR-owned 'float' or Airbus-owned SOR engines.

Given QR RR engines are on fixed price, lifetime PBTH, is just part of the requirement to secure QR business. They set the standards bar very high, but you know exactly where you stand.

It does also delay an engine payment milestone.

Does anyone know what's going on with IB's second A350, EC-MYX, which was delivered three weeks ago and hasn't shown up since on either FlightAware or FR24?

Thanks for the detailed response. I wonder if Airbus usually charge more for this procedure as obviously extra work for them in build. Of course these are all frames with launch discount.

Deliveries by trimester, 2015-2018 (from Starbuck's list):

2015 jan-mar: 1 apr-jun: 3 jul-sep: 1 oct-dec : 9 total : 14
2016 jan-mar: 4 (+300%) apr-jun: 7 (+133%) jul-sep: 14 (+1300%!) oct-dec : 22 (+144%) total : 47 (+236%)
2017 jan-mar: 11 (+175%) apr-jun: 19 (+171%) jul-sep: 20 (+43%) oct-dec : 27 (+23%) total : 77 (+64%)
2018 jan-mar: 18 (+64%) apr-jun: 22 (+18%) jul-sep: 9* total : 49*

*up to now

I guess the slowing down of the increase was to be expected :) What was the objective for the year, already?

These figures are delivery flights not deliveries. 2018 delivery count stands @48 right now. Soft goal for 2018 was 100, a ~20% increase over the 78 figure from last year. Because of delivery delays from Asiana and Hong Kong Airlines, I have 2018 forecast deliveries @ around 93-94 currently.

Well I'll answer my own question here as FR24 shows that it finally flew a test flight at MAD yesterday, and enters revenue service tomorrow from MAD>LHR>MAD, almost exactly one month after delivery.

Agreed. Especially since mid 250s are rolling out of the FAL now. Things seems really quiet/slow on the -1000 still. At least the the first ULR will be delivered soon.

I miss all the pics KarelXWB would post. Anyone know what what happened to him? No discredit to the current contributors.

Several of the -1000s have progressed in the last week or so, I’m hopeful deliveries will speed up now.

Karel is apparently fine, he decided to spend his time differently.

Delivery is either "Contractual Delivery" when the aircraft is paid/signed for, vs "Physical Delivery" when the aircraft takes off on its delivery flight. Entry into service is completely different...for example IB's second A350, EC-MYX, was delivered on July 27th and yet only enters service today!

Well it’s a process, a series of steps. Contractual completion of the purchase, customer takes the plane away, plane enters commercial service. The time intervals can vary considerably. We all use the word delivery as short-hand to describe the process. We use delivery to mean different things although, ironically, planes are very rarely delivered by the manufacturer.
