Re: Delta Aircraft Refurbishment - 2018

I wonder why park a plane with no engines and then put engines on just to fly it for storage again. Maybe that's easier than it sounds?

They have now received 31 so far this year, which is the scheduled total, and all are in service. Are you seeing one or two more being delivered this month?

Thanks, so that means only 2 A321's delivered during all of Q4 2018? so at year end 12/31/2018 they will have a total of 65 A321's on hand? Is it 4 of the 737-900ER that are being delivered during Q4 2018?

Yes, only 2x 321s. 5x 739s have already been delivered in Q4 (3905-3909), and 3910 should enter induction this month as well.

So there will have been a total of 8 739's added to the active fleet in Q4 2018? I see that 3911 and 3912 are officially delivered and signed should further be done with the their induction mods before 12/31. And only the 2 A321's added to the fleet in Q4?

Do you know which ship is taking her place? My guess is 7001...

Edit: It probably won`t be 7001......

7002. 7001 won't be until after the 1st of the year, once 7003 finishes.

If my numbers are right, they have 18 739s and 32 A321ceos coming in 2019. I believe they also have 2 A350s and 2 A330-900NEOs. Are those numbers correct? How many A220s are coming in 2019?

My biggest hopes for the 777 refurbishments is that the Sydney and Johannesburg flights get refurbished aircraft before some of the shorter flight like east coast to Europe.

I think the first three types are number correct, but I believe that 4 A330-900neos will be coming next year. They will be registered N401DZ, N402DX, N403DN and N404DL, with fleet #s 3401, 3402, 3403 and 3404 respectively.

3403 and 3404 should be N403DX and N404DX respectively. The other registrations you mentioned are no longer reserved by Delta.

If I remember correctly, it was stated that there would be 16 A220s to operate the routes announced for next summer. That would mean 12-13 deliveries for the first 8 months at least. Not sure about the rest of the year.

Are they moving away from -DN and -DL registrations and going to -DU and -DX for all future aircraft?
To me, it will always be:
- Bombardier CSeries
- Airbus A321neoLR and A321neoXLR
- EMBRACER ERJ-170, ERJ-175, ERJ-190, and ERJ-195
- MITSUBUSHI MRJ

Anti narrowbody-long range-twinjet gang. Long live the A380 and 747!

Given that the ERs are being done first, with the LRs to follow, your wish is unlikely to happen.

The timing makes sense--the ERs have older existing furnishings, shorter remaining life, and the LRs will have the cabin they're getting now for as long as a decade.

Don't the ERs have newer interiors than the LRs? The LRs were delivered with the lie flat seats, while the ERs were retrofitted shortly after the LRs were delivered.

N102DU, the 3rd A220-100, landed in Atlanta on its delivery flight today just after 1300 local. The airplane that will be N104DU is on the flightline and painted, but has not flown yet. Apparently the goal is still to deliver it before the end of the year, but that seems quite ambitious.

N102DU is indeed in in ATL I saw it this afternoon at the gate as I was catching my connection (ATL-BNA) in terminal E around 1:15 PM this afternoon. As I was taking off it was being towed over towards the hangars.

Given the entire 777 fleet is scheduled to be converted within a year, I doubt age played much of an impact. DL may have decided it was best to get the new product to Asia first for brand consistency.
We don’t care what your next flight is.

Rookie here but been lurking in the shadows for a while. DP for those interested. I'm booked early May ATL-AMS and mid May JNB-ATL. The seat map on the app shows the old 777 config on both flights but if I click on the aircraft details, the ATL-AMS 777ER shows the updated Delta One config. Under the same scenario the JNB-ATL shows the existing 777LR config. Trying to duplicate booking through the app or website still shows the herringbone config. I'm hopeful they will have both 777's updated by then by at least this hints to me that all the ER will be completed by then. It certainly appears that way based on how the ER is moving through the shop but I haven't seen a schedule online or by you pros yet so I'm unaware.

You will be on the refurbished 77E on your AMS flight, however you're highly likely to be on the old 77L configuration on the JNB flight. There would have to be an equipment swap of some sort to get onto the refurbed.

The ERs are also getting an overhaul while getting mods done. I don't think the LRs are due for as heavy of a check.

but IIRC 2-3 LRs will done by the summer so that LAX-SYD can have the new product

N327NW is the only A320 without the P2 mods. Is it going to get the mods? It is 26+ years old. It's kind of a bummer having one oddball non-AVOD A320 flying around. It's completion would mean that all non-T-tailed mainline jets have AVOD.

I''m curious to know if the P2 mod has already been done. Why would it continue flying instead of being sent to SAL? It makes no sense to me to keep the mod line open with no aircraft being modded! I pity the poor folks who end up flying on it with no IFE and Power Ports if that's the case.

So I just looked into this... Looked up N327NW`s last flight which was DL2037 JFK-AUS. Then I went on the Delta App, went to "flight status", put in DL2037, it gives you the amenities of that particular flight. It says the plane that operated on the flight tonight has charging capabilities, AVOD, etc. So I think its done already....

Thanks for the update! I'm assuming the 319 is N338NW (I scoured the entire fleet on Flightaware).
I'm going to go into a state of boredom and melancholy once these narrowbody mods are completed. :)

The reg is actually N338NB, as N338NW is an A320! All the A319 mods were finished 18 months ago, so this one is there for mx.

It is not modded. It is covering for a 319 that's still in SAL. It'll ferry to SAL early January.

Thanks for the update! I'm assuming the 319 is N338NW (I scoured the entire fleet on Flightaware).

The reg is actually N338NB, as N338NW is an A320! All the A319 mods were finished 18 months ago, so this one is there for mx.

Oops! Thanks for the correction. After plugging 57 tail numbers into Flightaware I guess I was a bit disoriented.

Kind of surprised to have the retirements right in the middle of the holiday rush.

It's not ideal but the green time left on these frames know no holidays.

Looks like 9205's ferry was cancelled and now it's doing revenue flights at least through tomorrow.

Suties, PE, and Economy. Not clear how many seats will be in each cabin. Flew on one about a month ago now, my god does it need this refit.

Plus I am guessing that with all the 737 deliveries that capacity is still growing even with the -88 and -90 parkings. The 110th -900ER just went into service and is doing a closed loop on CVG-MCO. It is amazing that next year that fleet will be bigger than the -88 fleet ever was.

Any idea how long until it will be done with the retrofit?

1805 is only getting a check, 1804 will be the prototype, and it'll ferry to CAN sometime next week.

They will also be in a 4 class configuration, D1, PE, C+ and main. The 7HBs and HDs will be going through a P2 mod to add C+ sometime in early 2019.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Any plans to install C+ into the 350s?

From what I hear the 2 deliveries in 2020 will have C+ in them, I dont know of a timeline for the 3501-3514 to get them.

A319 N338NB is currently en route from SAL>ATL, and still no sign of A320 N327NW going to SAL yet, at least not this year!
